Gastritis with left and right pain PLEASE HELP!!

I was diagnoised with acute gastritis in 2015. The pain comes and it goes due to the use of too many Nsaids when getting a back tooth removed from the dentist- I am 26 years old, a little over weight and have just recently been dropped from my Mom's health insurance in October of 2016. I live in the USA. So my only option is to go the emergency room when something happens to me, and as most without insurance know? It can be a HEFTY bill. I got my first strike of gastritis in June, 2015 and immediatly went on a diet- of bland foods, such as plain oatmeal, activia low-fat vanilla yogurt, apple sauce, brown rice, water, apple juice, and a little honey with the plain oatmeal. That is pretty much it. I have had severe flares in June 2015, (first one, I believe as stated above.) April of 2016, and now June, 2017. The flare ups only happen when I begin to slip up and take Nsaids again, and eat fatty foods when taking nsaids and when that happens? I go back on my diet of plain food, no tylenol, Nsaids, and take 1 24 hr release Nexium a day until 14 weeks are over, slowing down as I run out and eating my activia yogurt at the same time, 2 a day for the probiotcs, and DGL tablets that help coat the lining of your stomach. This flare up is a little different from the last because now, not only am I getting pain in my left side (flank) and under left breast, for the first 2 days- but now on my third day, today is June 3, 2017 I am having a little right side pain in the lower abdomen area- which I do not understand why as I have had my appendix removed in 2011, so it can't be that. On June 2nd, before the right side pain started and it was just left side pain? I went to the emergency room and told them I have had acute gastritis flare ups before that healed up and got better, but they hooked me up to an IV, took my blood, a urine sample, and did a CT scan with BOTH contrast and no contrast to make sure I did not have kidney stones, gallbladder problems-- stones, infection OR infection of any kind-- and my doctor said EVERYTHING came back normal, my kidneys, gallbladder, etc. So she thinks it is a gastritis flare up mixed with my anxiety. But I don't know, because I have never had right side pain with it before. It is not sharp but a lil intense, dull ache feeling almost like I have to pass gas or go take a poop but nothing happens. I am extremely scared because last time this happened? I had to go to the emergency room after vomitting all night long, not being able to hold down water, or anything else, but my appendix is gone, and the CT scan of my kidneys, gallbladder and all of that came back fine the E.R said, blood, urine--- all good. Someone PLEASE help me and tell me this is normal for gastritis sometimes. I am really scared and my anxiety does not help. And I cannot afford to keep going to the emergency room when they said that everything was okay yesterday..... and I do not have health insurance or any way of getting it here in the US.

I feel for you.Firstly u mention Apple, this can be a part of the issue.Secondly NSAIDs  are now being recommended as a no go due to either health issues or dependency with having to take them.I mention Apple,I tried to change and found that with drinking  or eating I ended up with cramps ,even worse when having anything food wise with either oatmeal or certain types of yogurt ,whole meal .I changed my milk to semi skimmed and now look at other alternatives.Start a chart and look at the things you eats. For 7 days. After or going along look at what you eat or drink and if a flare up occurs  it may give you some idea. The other thing is Stress does'nt help, too mmuch worry cannot be good for your health.Looking at what you are asking why don't you reach out to a support group where you may be able to get some support and more importantly get help.I hope this gives you some support and good luck.

    Hi mary10313

Try keeping a food diary and see what foods cause the flare up..do it for a few weeks and see what emerges....i would suggest going gluten free, lactose free, eat veggies not too much broccoli cabbage as they can cause gas....some fruits such as blueberry, mango, no apple or citrus fruits , chicken cooked in olive oil and then thoroughly drained of fat...fish done same way, some wholemeal pasta with a not too spicey sauce and rice not spiced perhaps egg fried rice no fizzy drinks plenty of water, no coffee. Take the probiotic yogurt or probiotic tabs and multi vits....also take B12 complex supplements and vit D......vit D deficiency can cause gastro problems....it's not going to show results over night but give it time....if this does not help you can safely go back to you health provider telling them what you have done to help yourself......my best wishes to you....
