Gastroscopy Findings

Posted , 2 users are following.

I've been suffering from acid reflux, gas and upper left abdominal pain for almost a year. I just had a gastroscopy today and in my report the findings state: <1cm tongue of columnar lined oesophagus but no erosive changes . Normal stomach and duodenum. Biopsies taken from squamous oesophagus at 2 levels to exclude EoE. Clo test negative. What does the <1cm tongue of columnar lined oesophagus mean? I'm really scared and worried sick.

Patch of Barrett's esophagus I think. The constant acid reflux or gerd causes the tissue of your esophogus to change into the same tissue your stomach is made of. Might make swallowing harder. The biopsies will show if it's cancerous. Barrett's is usually monitored to make sure it doesn't turn cancerous. I have it and insurance is denying the medication I need to prevent the Gerd. Guess they prefer I have the reflux and get cancer.

The doc who did the scope didn't explain anything or say it's Barretts so I'm really confused. Does it mean it's definately Barretts?

I googled it and that's what it said. I would call them and ask about it.
