gaul stones

Hi everyone!  I've just been reading some of the diet tips for gaul stones on this forum, and as i've just had an ultra sound scan and have been told i have them i would like some help and advice please.  I've noticed that most people say that you should drink lots of water, but i live in Aberdeen, and the water up here is awful, so i would like to know can you drink flavoured water, and if you can, which flavours can you have?  also, can you drink tea?  also, which dried fruits can you have as i'm not keen on a lot of fresh ones!  sorry to take up so much space, but i really would like some help as I don't want that awful pain which i had on friday with the gaul stones.  it was so bad that i had to get the out of hours doc out to give me an injection as the parocetimol did no good.  thanks in anticipation.  Val.

    Hi

herbal teas camomile great as it calms irritation, mint but avoid caffeine in tea coffee and chocolate as it makes your gallbladder contract squeeze.

I didn't touch fruit , too acidic so I would of avoided dried.

Why don't you buy bottled water?

To be honest to avoid gallstone pain your diet has to be low fat no fat. No caffeine only white meat nothing processed ... It won't be a balanced diet ... It is boring boiled potatoes , rice, pasta. Boiled veg steamed fish, chicken etc ... Toast , etc but to have no pain ... It's worth it . Then wait to have it removed quick as possible ..

    Hi Valerie

I am waiting to see surgeon as just found out that I have a 26mm diameter gall stone!!

    Same symptoms as yourself!

I have been drinking decaffienated tea and coffee for many years now and it is readily available in all the big stores!  Infact I think it tastes better.  I have no problems with drinkking it at all.

I also have a brita filter jug and just fill it up with tap water and use that for drinking and filling kettle, makes water taste a lot better.

I have a teaspoon of andrews liver salts in a pint of water and add a little bit of vimto cordial and it doesn't taste too bad and the magnesium in the salts has calmed my stomach for weeks.  My grandmother swore by it!!  I am also on  omeprazole 40mg.

I have to eat very small meals(like side plate size).  Not much appetite but find I can eat low fat rice pudding and bland food...just steaming everything at the moment!!

    Hope this info helps?!

    It's gall stones !!!

I find when having an attack it's best to eat nothing.

Can you not buy bottled plain water ?

Hi all, I have a gallstone but don;t have many symptoms - also have Diverticulitis. Why is caffeine so bad?

I read it causes your gallbladder to spasm squeeze . And if you have stones that can cause soreness as the stones rub inside the gallbladder or even worse squeeze a stone down a duct. Hope that helps .

Thanks Sally, I suppose I am lucky becasue I don;t get pain unless I eat a load of fat and then it is is only in my joints in my arms and hands.
