Hi Christine, I live in Drayton, Oxfordshire and was diagnosed Nov 14. I just wanted to tell you that i visited Specsavers in Abingdon as i was a bit worried about some blurring at the sides of my eyes, which is not there all the time i hasten to add. I was given a very thorough eye test by a young lady of maybe chinese ethnic whom i told that i had PMR and she actually brought up the subject of GCA and said everything that i have learnt already from this forum including get to the hospital at first signs, so there are people out there who are helpful, if you want to go to specsavers i can find her name for you. Must be a nightmare having a Dr you dont trust  Good Luck where are you maybe we could meet for a coffee sometime.

    Hi Liz,

this is great info for Christine but I'm wondering if she might miss it because it's not part of her discussion.  Maybe a PM to her or a quick reference to the other post might help.

    Just a thought😉

its OK I have seen this now thanks. I am going to see an optician that knows me and has a few years records so can make comparison Drayton is a bit far for me but it is worth knowing. This is not a sudden onset as I have had it since Christmas but the amount of Prednisolone may be masking it or helping a bit...I will be doing something very shortly don't worry.A+E is a very difficult situation to manage for me as its so unpredictable... I could be there all day and most of the night.... as I was a few years back when I broke my wrist. I had to get a taxi home at 2 in the morning after being treated and it cost £65 which I could ill afford. Otherwise I would have had to sit there until about 11 am next morning and go in a voluntary bus which would take 2 and half hours to get home. It is ridiculous when you think about it.

It was the optician from Spec Savers in Bunbury Western Australia that sent me to eye specialist when I went with blurd and double vision. Was the diagnosis end with GMA the pressure behind had gone up really high.

Can't get new glasses until on a much lower dose of Pred as eyes changing all the time have different strengths of the magnifer glasses until that day I get new glasses.

having drops in my eyes daily for the pressure, see the specialist again on 22nd April, hoping that all will have improved.
