GCA symptoms

Posted , 10 users are following.

Hi everyone,  I was diagnosed November '14 with PMR although the symptoms started June/July also had undiagnosed GCA August/September.  At present I have a slight earache from last night, not anything that I would need a painkiller for, also have an ache (for the want of a better word) which comes and goes in my right collar bone.  Any comments welcom and thanks in advance.

I'm a great believer in asprin and I don't think I could have survived without it.

Hi Misdiagnose, I take aspirin every morning 75mg, have been on them for quite a long time.  Pat

I have GCA as well as PMR. GCA increases the risk of CVA and I put myself on asprin but a stupid GP took me off them and I lost some of my eye-sight due to what was described by the hospital eye doctor as 'sometimes the blood vessels at the back of the head get inflamed and blocked and this could be the reason why you lost some of your eye-sight". When I have crippling pain, I take a dose of 300mg and this relieves it for days at a time but it does tend to cause a bit of gastritis. Win some lose some with this game of soldiers!

You are so right, win some - lose some.  Last week I woke up with a red dot in my left eye (I was at the drs. anyway) and she agreed it was a burst blood vessel but nothing serious.  My concerns when I have them are always GCA as I had it last year (undiagnosed of course).  Pretty frightening, I may add.

Ear ache has gone now so it must have been just a one off thing.  Tnks
