General consultants

Hi,

I've had enough of GP's wasting my time and not being able to diagnose me and passing me around to see specialists who rule out its anything wrong in their area.  Any advice??  I am based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire and just need a great GP or general specialist in the area.

I am a 34 year old male and suffer from dizziness, leg pain and occasional chest pain and palpitations.  I have a connective tissue disorder (unassigned but not marfans) and am trying to figure why I feel so bad nearly all of the time.  Mt primarily starts with leg pain and then heart starts palpitating, I get a headache and then dizziness starts.  I'm not sure if its a blog clotting issue or thyroid problem which seem to be the primary links (or even diabetes which runs in the family) but I have had the basic tests and nothing is found.  Any advice would be appreciated - I know I just need to find that specialist who can manage me and my symptoms as I want a happy life for me, my wife and 2 kids.  Thanks for reading.

Instead of specialiasts in specific disciplines you would benefit from seeing a general specialist, that is a doctor who looks at the whole body and does not start with any preconceptions. Unfortunately such specialists in my experience seem to be in the private sector. From the little experience I have gleaned from two friends, each of whom has had excellent treatment following location of problem previously unknown (to them), then this can be money well spent. There may be such specialists in the NHS, even one in your area, but you will only find out by asking. Start by asking your GP and if that fails then try your local Spire hospital,

Thanks for this.  I have private medical cover but my GP seems stumped in who to send me to.  If such general specialists exist, I will find them.  I have considered swapping my GP as she seems to be the primary issue.  I have seen other GP's however for emergency appointments and they seem to tarnish me with the same brush.  No blood test has identified an issue, therefore its stress which I diasgree with.  I have a perfect life let down by my unidentified illness.

Blood tests are only one set of the many tests that can be carried out. What you need is someone with lateral thinking (specialist as mentioned). As for your GP then I would change practice which is your right and now easy to do. First you need to do some research about the other practices, and GPs, that might be available for you.
