Generalized itching for months

I've read that anxiety can cause itching on your body, but I was curious if anyone has had any personal experience with this?

I find myself itching very often, all over - could be my arms, legs, stomach. Mostly it's on my neck and chest area tho. I itch and then it becomes red and sometimes a little hive appears. *Let me rule out that it's not an allergy, I haven't been using any diff detergents or have any pets around, etc.*

I'm assuming it is anxiety bc I am a very anxious person and I get other physical symptoms all the time. Also, when I'm distracted the itching leaves.

The only reason it makes me nervous is bc I've also had some swollen lymph nodes in my head/neck area for the past year now. They've been checked out by numerous Drs now and none are concerned - they think th nodes are swollen due to bad acne on my face. But of course I read online that Lymphoma can cause generalized itching of the body... So now I'm more worried lol.

Anyone have any thoughts/experience on anxiety causing itchiness?

I've got like a cold burning sensation on the back of my hand at the moment, which I've had for a week but I've not had the itching as such when it's been anxiety. When I have had it, it turned out to be shingles.

Saying that, I've read plenty of cases where others say they find they itch alot and this being due to anxiety. If it were a symptom of Lymphoma I would imagine there would be a lot of other problems too and your Dr would have been able to identify any clinical reasons to worry. If you've had swollen nodes for a year and dr's are not concerned the it sounds like it's nothing sinister. Of you've had bad acne, it's possible that this could be affecting your skin.

But given that you mention it fades when you are distracted, it does sound more anxiety specific. My mum suffers depression and when she's stressed I see her scratching her legs alot xx
