Hi all
Please anyone that has had the above test, how long did it take to get
The results back????? I had the blood test on the 1.7.16
I have the follow up appointment with the hemotologist on the 19.8.16
And would hope this result would be back????
I have access to my results on university hospital Birmingham ,
My health website, I have the results of my last 6 venesections, so I know
Each week how much my levels have dropped.
But the genetic result is not showing yet???
I may contact the consultants secretary on Monday to chase this result

Hi Phil, mine took just over 3 weeks. I chased it up GP surgery at 3 weeks and they told me it could take weeks as it's done externally - also I was not given the option to chase it directly (would not divuldge where or who). Luckily arrived a few days later. Six weeks seems too long to wait though - definitely worth chasing up.

I was 7 weeks for mine and my brother still hasn't had his back yet and that's nearly 9 for his.

Thanks for your replies, I intend to contact the hospital on Wednesday
To chase up the results, I would like them to have the results when
I see the hemotologist on Friday to discuss where I go next my levels
Are still 661 so it obvious I will need more venesections???

Hi Phil,
Homozygous just means you have the C282Y mutation in both the HFE gene pair- so you will have HFE, as you already know of course - I got exactly the same description in my test result. It also means you will always pass on one gene to any children,
If you just had one mutated gene in that pair you'd be heterozygous and so you'd "only" be a carrier.
All the best Pete
