Genital Herpes 1 ( I think )

Hello ,

Im a 24y man diagonisticated recently with genital herpes .

Background:

3 weeks ago a red zone appeard on my penis..so after 4 days I went to the dermatologist . She said that I have genital herpes...but for some reason I didnt trust this diagnostic ( because I didnt have sex this year and no BJ either ) . She prescribed me some medicine with no effect . Also, my igg was positive for hsv1/hsv2 and igm was negative .

SO because the red zone it was still there and other bumps appeard I decide to go and see another doctor and his diagnostic was that I have a primo infection with herpes . He give me aciclovir and I kinda see some changes ( the red zone now has a white area on top ) .Yesterday another blood results came back from lab and both IGG and IGM were negative for hsv2.

So, this means that is HSV 1, right ?

But how I did end up with this ?

The funny thing now is that from this week I have a new girlfriend but we didnt have sex ( and I will not have until I'm "clear" )  just kissing . I feel so low now..because she is a beautiful person and I dont want to mess her up . I didnt talk with her about this but I want ..but before this I need some advice and answers .

Teoreticaly, if she has hsv1 ( mouth area ) can I pass the virus to her genitals ?  If the answer is no..this means that I can have normal sex with her without protection ?

Can I reinfect myself ? If I touch the genital area with the red zone and after I scratch my lips or something ..

Did your doctor swab the area? That is the best test to do, because you are directly testing the affected skin for virus, not antibodies to the virus in blood (indirect, not location specific). The blood tests aren't as good, and IgM can be ignored altogether (unreliable, inaccurate).

Based on your IgG alone, it would seem to suggest HSV1, but because the blood test can't pinpoint location, it could easily be an old oral infection (many people carry it orally without symptoms), so the problem on your penis may not necessarily be due to HSV1.

Your presumed HSV1 is not a new infection, incidentally, since you already appear to have antibodies (they don't reach detectable levels straight after infection).

Anyway, the fact you had no recent encounters and how most symptomatic people (though not all) typically get their first outbreak soon after infection makes me think that maybe this isn't herpes. A swab would have clarified things.

As for your contagion questions, it all really depends on what was the cause of your issue, but those with established HSV1 (4+ months), wherever located, are typically immune from getting it elsewhere.

Thank you so much for the answer .

I never had any kind of symptoms ( oral or genital ) until 3 weeks ago.

It wasn't a swab test, they put the diagnose just by looking.

Like I said, the first test showed that iGG was postivie for hsv1/hsv2

     IgG was 16,80

         < 0.9 negative

         > 1.10 positive .

In my opinion this is very high and something is going on.

The first doctor gave me doxycyclin but had no effect what so ever .

Because Im new to this and I dont know what are the steps for the healing process ( visually ) Can I add some pictures to give me an opinion ? Currently taking acyclovir and a local cream called Cicastim .

Doxycycline is for chlamydia and mycoplasma infections. Not heard of Cicastim. Stages of a typical genital herpes infection are bumps/blisters that open up and turn into sores/ulcers after a few days. These are sore to the touch and usually clustered, but can also be dispersed. After a few days they slowly heal. On regular skin they scab. Sometimes a second crop may appear after a week. Altogether, everything is usually gone by 3 weeks on average. Swollen/tender lymph nodes in the groin are common with first outbreaks and this can persist beyond the lesions. If you wish to post photos via the desktop version of this site, you may.

    Hello again.

After using acyclovir for 7 days everything disappeared( I was finally happy with myself ). But now, after 3 days of not using it ..some red zone appeard again( but not in the same exact place and they arent looking like the initial ones). It doesnt hurt, they dont bleed, I dont feel itchy. And at the same time I can see the traces that the first Red zone left behind them ( 2 days ago everything was allright)..

Do you have any ideea about this ? Is this normal ? Thank you for your support .
