Genital herpes

So my gf and I both got genital herpes, I was to believe that we were both virgins. Is it possible to contract herpes if you have both never been sexual active?

Sorry. Just read genital. Either someone had oral sex or id say someone is lying. BUT it is possible to be born with herpes if your mother has it & had an outbreak during birth.
