Genital herpes and pregnancy

hi there.

i been reading around genital herpes and pregnancy but I have more questions I'm wondering if there's someone in this forum that it can help me about my concerns more if someone during pregnancy had outbreaks of genital herpes .I'm not pregnant yet but im planning to get pregnant this year . I've been having genital herpes for 10 years and 3 years of constant outbreaks literally every single month I stop taking valacyclovir because of the side effects but right now I'm trying to have a diet high in lysine but I still get the outbreaks i wanna start a family I'm just very concerned to pass the herpes to the baby more because i get the outbreaks every month can someone please let me know there own experiences. thank you

    being pregnant with HSV2 is not as big of a deal as getting an initial outbreak with HSV2. Talking with an OBGYN in this case would be your best option. A vaginal birth is definitely possible while having HSV2. if you do happen to have outbreaks during your 2nd trimester your doctor will ask to put you back on antivirals until the birth happens. if you choose not to take antivirals and do happen to have an out break at the time of delivery your OBGYN will have no choice but to preform a cesarean.
