Genital Herpes but sores on my back and arm and belly!!!!!!

Posted , 9 users are following.

Yes I started having these sores on my back and later attcks on my belly and arm (not as bad as the back) and swab test on back sore indicated HSV2 but what I don't understand (and the doctors were puzzled too) as we all expected genital sores. Has anyone with HSV2 in this forum have had a similar experience (sores in areas other then genital). In a way I should be happy since genital sores would be much more painful but I am just curious.

Good news is that anti-viral meds can suppress the reoccurances and apparently after 2 years the frequency and severity of attacks will be reduced too a lot. There is also another drug on horizen which is likely much more effective (pritelivin) if this FDA stop meddling (they suspended trial in 2013 as dozes 20 times the average showed toxic in monkeys......).

    Hi,

I too get weird red bumps on my bumm and lower back and sometimes on my upper leg/hamstring area.  I have never had a swab, but I have been looked at by two dermatologist and an NP at Planned Parenthood.  All of whom tell me this is not H.  I find this hard to believe because these bumps only appeared after I had dated someone with H.  Can you post any pictures?  Thank you.

Just get it swabbed the next time, ideally by pcr.

Wow, I have never heard of such a thing. That is extremely rare and I find it hard to believe, but if they swabbed you positive there, then I guess so.

My ex who passed the virus to me had a huge outbreak on his lower tummy, he bailed on me days after he passed it to me so we never got into a proper conversation about if in general he got outbreaks genitally as well as the tummy area but on that occasion it was definitely only the tummy area and not around the genitals.

Well I don't have any pictures because it hasn't happened in a long time. First time it occurred (March 2015) doctors thought it was impetigo. It happened simultenously on my chin, back and tummy and arm. This first attack was the worse and I had fever too for full week (40 c) followed by shingles attack (my immune system was ruined). Then more attacks once a month (the future attacks was much milder and only on my back and shoulders). They treated me with doze after doze of various anti-biotics as they thought it was impetigo (anti-biotics is not effective on virus) because sores were very ichy and yellow and no pain but very ichy but it came back again and again until August 2015 and then stopped for 6 months and came back in February 2016 (this was tha last attack) again on my back (thank God it was not on my face or genital) again very ichy, red and no pain. At this time my doctor took two swabs one for bacteria and one for virus. The bacteria came back negative (not impetigo!!!!!!) and the virus test unfortunately came back positive for HSV2!!!!!. Two doctors at the clinic were both surprise so as why I am asking on this forum please share IF YOU ARE HSV2 positive and YOU HAVE SORES on your BACK, ARMS or TUMMY and NOT GENITAL areas or am I unique?

It could be because i didn't catch the virus from sex (I am very careful always protected sex) but maybe just from skin to skin contact (out of bad luck) with an opposite sex sometimes that I have sore where I do and not my genitals. This is the only explanationI can think of. I also read the virus always attack the weakest parts of the body (that is why always the previously attacks areas is attacked in reoccurances......).

We have made advances in cancer treatments, shingles, HIV, heart disease which is great but it is now time to come up with an effective medication to cure herpes since a large portion of population is suffering and there is a big market for it. So lets hope pritelivir will be available soon (still not a cure but more effective) and we soon find a vaccine and cure for herpes.

As mentioned, your case is most unusual and atypical. It's certainly not the norm for Type 2 carriers, far from it. Could they have mixed up the swabs and it was actually shingles, except those in the boxer shorts area? Have you seen an infectious disease expert? Unfortunately, your case is very extreme. Hopefully it doesn't come back.

By the way, do you have a history of dermatitis? The only thing I can think of is an uncommon condition caused eczema herpeticum, which can occur in those who suffer from dermatitis. It can affect other parts of the body and is considered quite serious. Usually caused by Type 1 more than Type 2. It doesn't sound like you were severely ill, however. Anyway, worth checking out via Google.

It  was a swab test of a sore on my back which indicated HSV2 but also a blood test last year indicated HSV (without the typpe). And no I don't have a history of dermatitis. Btw, they were not shingles as I have had shingles I know how they like. They are very painful. These recent attacks are very itchy but no pain.

Okay after a a lot of research I found out the answer. It IS indeed possible to be infected with HSV2 and have symptoms on back and hand and arms as well as around the mouth. it is called ORAL HSV2. Those like myself who never get engage in unprotected intercourse but do engage in unprotected oral sex will catch oral HSV2 and I think I read about 3% of HSV2 is oral. Apparently it is supposed to occur only once (or they say at a rate of 0.01 days shedding orally for reoccurance) which is true for mouth in my case (I only had attack on my mouth once and thank God never again) but no so on my back and hand as it is still occuring every 2 months and yes the one on my back was swabbed as HSV2.

Never said it's impossible, only that it's very unusual and far from common. Did you ever check out the possibility of eczema herpeticum? That's still herpes, but a widespread form, usually involving HSV1, however. History of dermatitis usually involved.

Vo my doctors never tested me for eczema herpeticum and not sure what it is either. The swab test from my sore on my back was positive for HSV2 and since it is above belly now I realize that it is called ORALE HSV2 and just wished to share it as it took me along time to figure it out why on earth genital herpes attcks me on back, face and arm and hand. Apparently it will never spread to  genital atea which would be much more painful which is good to know and also it will amost never attack the facial area a second time which is very good news. And like other HSV2 in time after a few years it will become very mild and infrequent which is another good news I wished to share but as always there are exceptions. I also find that if one takes Valtrex at the very first dign (not after sore appears but before but for this you have to know the pre-sore symptoms) then it is very effective to make the attack mild and short.

I know this discussion was awhile ago but I had an outbreak on my chin. Looked like impetigo as well. Antibiotics were not working. Finally found out it’s HS2 or which ever kind is the non sexual one. I took antivirals and it clears it up. I was taking valocyclovir at the first sign of a flare up and it stops it right in its tracks. For the longest time it would show up on my chin in the same spot. Until I grew a beard (weird ) Sometimes it’s on my lip not very often at all. This last time it’s on my lip and stomach.

      Hello Tom:

Your case appears to be very similar to mine when I got first outbreak in April 2015. It was a big flare up on my chin and doctors put me on antibiotics as they thought too it was impetigo. Fortunately in my case later attacks were in my back, arm and palm of left hand not face. A year later it was tested (swab test of back sore) as HSV2. Damn this virus and the medical scientists have not done a good job to destroy this damn virus as they have so with HIV or other viruses. It is Oral HSV2 which is transmitted by oral sex (I found out this after doing years of research as few doctors know about this).

Take valtrex if the attacks are frequent and on face. Also olive leaf extract and red pepper extract and vinegar supplements may help too. Taking those supplements I have an attack (on my palm or arm) once every six months now and milder and I take valtrex right away to make it go away fast. Maybe you need to take same approach. Good luck.

Well 6 years into it, I might have been cured from Herpes using combination pills from a new unknown company in Melbourne Australia (Synergy). My HPV went away after 3 months of therapy and no herpes outbreaks in over a year.
