Genital Herpes: Useful info for those looking for answers like me!

i’m a type 1 diabetic and just diagnosed with herpes today. am I at risk for other things since i’m already immunocompromised?

This is my first time so I'm not even sure if i will get any answer but if you reading this and know something about please white to me ..im so worried 

A year ago i find out i have GH ....of course first symptoms were mistaken as YI....i had outbreaks ( only one looked like cold sore the rest looked like red spot that the doctor showed me)  sometimes once in the month sometimes every 2-3 moths but this time ...so now i have the lesion for 2 weeks now and i have been taking an valtrex but it

didn't go away...im so SCARED. I'm going to the doctor friday but i want to answer now - it is possible i have HIV??

btw I'm as sad as everyone ...i cry eveyrtime i have an outbreak  ...i can't be ok with having it and my heart goes to every each of you coz i know how you feel :

Newbie here... we’ll just found out today that I tested positive for HSV 1 IGG 27.10 and HSV 2 IGG  6.23... been in a relationship for a little over 15 years.  Back in July of 2017  I came back from vacation and started with blisters in my mouth that had spread like wildfire on the inside of my cheeks, gums under tongue, inside of my lips . I went to ER and to my pcp and they couldn’t figure it out . I was given shots of steroids, antibiotics etc... they were painful and very gross it lasted for over a week. We had thought I caught something from the river water.  I do have a week system due to anemia .  After all that 7 months later... last week  I got another sore and went back to my pcp and got a steroid shot was told to take iron pills and gave me valaccyclovir 1 tablet every 8 hours for7 days. I was told it was cause of stress. Well it spread to my lips looked like cold sores and all over tongue looked like thrush and roof of my mouth. I went back to doctor. 3 days later then I was told it was blisters taking its course and it would go away soon. I ask her for a panel of blood work of everything that has to do with STD’s Herpes 1&2 so she did. 3 days prior they took blood work and checked my Anemia levels and Cortizone and they came out OK just anemia it was kind a low. I received a call on the 15th and was told all the labs on std’s were negative. Then today on Tuesday  I get a call and the HSV 1&2 we positive . I almost fainted in shock not knowing what it all meant.  I know my relationship has not been perfect. ( I caught the other half sexting in the past and of course he swore that’s all it was) bull.... (cough cough) . He will be getting tested this week! I don’t know what those number mean if you can tell if it was just contacted  or something I have carried  for years.... I’m so confused ! Maybe you can help I hope those are the right numbers it said value next to the 27.10 and 6.23.  Help😕

I have been reading alot your feedback on hsv on this site and i hope i could hear from you.

I am in relationship with my current girlfriend for around 1 year and 9 months since May 2016 til now. After around 9 months in the relationship in 15 Feb 2017, i had water filled bumps at the base of my genital after i had sex with my girlfriend and i thought they could just be yeast infection. The bumps were itchy and painless which i had no problems cleaning my genital with antibacterial shower cream. The bumps became ulcers and eventually dried / scabbed around 4 days and i was lesion free within 7-9 days. I suffered another outbreak after a month in late April 2017 with a few itchy water filled bumps and so i finally decided to take my herpes test with the lesion still visible on my genital. I finally got tested in 9 weeks after my first outbreak with my blood drawn on my 2nd outbreak in late April 2017 for the Herpeselect IGG test. My result came out as follows;

HSV 1: 0.32

HSV 2: 0.77

(Negative <=0.90, Equivocal 0.91-0.99, Positive >= 1.00)

 I didn't see a Doctor and went to a well known Blood Test Lab facility in my country and requested for an igg test. It could have been a different outcome if i managed to take a PCR swab on my first outbreak through a Doctor. I was relieved my results came back negative after two outbreaks within 9 weeks but the symptoms persisted until today hence i took another test last week and the result came out positive for hsv2 on the Euroimmun test. 

HSV 1: 4.3

HSV 2: 50.6

(Negative <16, Equivocal 16-20, Positive >20)

 So it has been almost 10 months since my first igg test, i have had about 6 occurrences of water filled blister to date within a year but they were all negligible with just a few small clear watery bumps that i just popped and applied betadine until it dried and disappear within a week. They were just annoying but i had no problems since the bumps were painless and would disappear within a week. I have been faithful with my girlfriend throughout our time together and she claimed to be a virgin before she met me which i very much believe so. She is symptom free and i have requested her to do an igg test in a few days time whether she is hsv2 positive.

I have a few questions i hope some of you guys could shed some light

1. Why did my first test came out negative on HerpeSelect after two outbreaks within 9 weeks? Most people would seroconverted within 2 weeks with active lesions. I even had the bumps on my genital during the second outbreak when the blood was drawn out for test. I knew it could take up to 16 weeks for detectable antibodies to appear but at 9 weeks and two outbreaks i was tested negative seems unbelievable or the test was simply flawed!?

 2. My girlfriend is symptom free to date and its almost 2 years we are together now. She never had sex with anyone besides me. If i had herpes for years why didn't the first igg test was positive with detectable antibodies since most would seroconverted after 6 months? I didn't have sex with anyone throughout my relationship with my girlfriend and my first outbreak came out after 9 months in our relationship and the first igg test was negative! I felt it didn't make any sense that my body did not seroconvert before i met my girlfriend. That would simply mean the Herpeselect igg test was totally flawed since the last time i had sex with someone (safe sex with condom) was a few months before i met my girlfriend. Im beginning to think that she could possibly cheated on me or i might have had herpes for at least 2 years but it took so long to seroconvert?!

 3. I cant get a Western Blot test here and im planning for the PCR test should the blisters  appear again anytime soon. Im considering to take another igg test within 1-3 months subject to my girlfriend test result. If she is tested positive we could ended up accusing each others for passing herpes but if her result turns out negative then i have no choice but to get retested and possibly with the PCR as well. By the way should i continue with Herpeselect or Euroimmun for my 3rd test if no symptoms appear within 3 months?

 4. Ive read that my hsv2 result range of 50.4 on Euroimmun is a low positive. Could it be a false positive? I just felt like retesting again soon with Herpeselect since that was first test i did which came out negative at 9 weeks and two outbreaks.

Its affecting my relationship and it's hard to believe that I've contracted herpes years ago after my first test was negative. Sometimes I couldn't help but to think my girlfriend has cheated on me and gave me herpes until her results proves otherwise. Im slowly losing my mind and i need closure. Hope to hear some feedback and advice. Thanks

It's been two years since your initial posting. I was diagnosed with HSV2 couple weeks ago. I was suffered with a lot of symptoms like tingling, chill, fatigue. My first outbreak was an ulcer next to my vulva. 

I am wondering how do you control the herpes. Is it better now?

Okay, so four weeks ago, I had this blister inside my labia majora. It didn’t hurt or anything. I honestly think I got it from rubbing the area with my finger a lot since I was scratching this cyst that was on my vagina for several months now. I noticed it & freaked out because I never saw a red blister before. I scratched it & all I had was bleeding. The weird thing is it didn’t leave an ulcer or anything, so I can’t remember exactly where it was. The cyst with the Whitehead disappeared unchanged too. I don’t know if a blister can be normal on the vagina. Certain sites said they are, but I want to know if anyone experienced this? It’s been 4 weeks but my vagina seems irritated. I haven’t seen any new blisters.I have no other symptoms. 

Also, I it felt like a cut on the inside of my labia, but I didn’t see much, & I still have symptoms of itchiness that travels around my right labia.

I am getting tingly like bugs are crawling on me down there. I'm not itchy I sharp casual pains every now an then and I have a fever. I am really worried about a first outbreak. Is that likely to happen based on my symptoms

 

Hi Feliz, your very informative I'm hoping maybe you can help me. I tested positive for hv2 with a low number from a blood test back in September. I've still had no symptoms, but haven't had a chance to get retested. I've been talking to someone and informed him of my situation. Is there any extra precautions that can be done besides the protection? As far as we know he doesn't have it and is afraid if we do anything he will catch it.

I recently found out someone I had sex with got diagnosed with genital herpes and chlamydia. I got tested for both and had chlamydia got treated but came back negative in the igg test for herpes.i discovered a tear on my penis foreskin(uncircumcised) . can it be something else? really scared what should I do

i tested positive two weeks ago. Since ive been reading all of your info, i wanted to know my index values. WOW..... type 1 was 52.2 and type 2 was 3.4. What is your opinion on what by body is doing lol

Hi! maybe you can help.. how common us to have a 1st outbreak with sores and no pain (female) barely getting tested tomorrow...bacterial infections have been ruled out. Thanks!! like many here I'm freaking out 😕!!!
