Genital Herpes: Useful info for those looking for answers like me!
Posted , 315 users are following.
Ever since I suspected genital herpes (GH) and was recently confirmed to be going through a primary outbreak of HSV-2 (ugh, the "bad" one), I have been researching the topic like crazy! Guess that's a pretty normal thing to do, lol, and I'm sure many others here have done the same.
Anyway, I thought it would be helpful to share everything that I have learnt thus far, and I will continue to add to this thread as I come across more useful, interesting and/or relevant info.

PLEASE HELP!!
Lost and confused!!
Unprotected sex March 15,
Tested by labcorp for HSV
HSV1/2 Combo IGM 1.0 "h"
Waited 3 months because "expert" Dr. Warren told me to get restarted since I didn't have any symptoms AND BECAUSE IGM IS UNRELIABLE...did so
JUNE- Herpeselect Test
HSV 1 IGG negative
HSV 2 IGG negative
Now it's October
And in the past two months
I've got these skin bumps that look like fordyce spots, but there in both sides of my penis, the inside tip of my urethra has almost purplish, reddish brushing cut....it stings when I urinate, wear my boxers, lightly touch it and masturbate...
I'm not sure from what I've read if this is canadidias, prostatis, diabetes, cancer or maybe I actually do have herpes....
Anyone go through this??? Thank you in advance for input

Doesn't sound like herpes, plus you tested negative for IgG at three months.

Dear Felix,
I vê been having these chronic balanopostitis since early September. My penis (gland and foreskin) condition was bad, very bad. It began with intense itching, then one úlcera, then two, and then began to spread. I had no water bubbles like the one typical in herpes, just direct ulcers. And they don’t heal even with antibiotics. Tests came positive for herpes 1 (3,4) and negative for herpes 2 (less then 0,08), but both just IgG tests, not IgM (my last sexual relation was 40 days ago before I had the test). Negative for sífilis, negative for Hiv. Now, even 20 days after I had the test, the ulceration is still on going. Every day there’s a new one, some went away but new ones always come up. No fever. What do you think??

I don't think it's herpes, as I replied on your other post. It's been onging for too long, which is not typical of herpes, not even a first outbreak. Have you had it swabbed for herpes, other things? That would at least help rule things in and out. Still don't think it's herpes, though.

Other bacteria can cause male urethritis, if that's even what it is, so it's not always herpes. Or gonorrhea or chlamydia.

If you have established (over 4 months) genital HSV1, then you shouldn't get it orally, but you could potentially get HSV2 orally, although that's less likely/common. If you have established genital HSV2, you shouldn't get any HSV orally. Note "shouldn't". Exceptions may apply, as nothing is foolproof, but that's the general understanding.

It's certainly possible and always distressing at first. Were you diagnosed with HSV2 by swab, and have you both tested for HSV1+2 IgG?
