Genital HSV 1 Recurrence Frequency

Posted , 4 users are following.

I suspect I may have contracted genital HSV 1 from oral sex about 2 years ago. However, I am having frequent outbreaks! From everything I have read people get no or infrequent outbreaks with genital HSV 1, so wondering what's going on. Does anyone else with with genital HSV 1 get frequent outbreaks?

there is a huge misconceptions with people on this group and HSV1 and HSV2, to clarify, HSV is HSV, there is no difference between the context of the virus, it is the herpes strain and that is it. the 1 and 2 relates purely to the area of contraction and location,

1 = Oral herpes (of the mouth/ facial)

2 = Genital (the penis or the vaginal area)

if you are having outbreaks on your genitals you have HSV2. everyone is difference in relation to recurrences, some have regular some have less.

    lifestyle plays a big part.

okay. for one. everything you said was completely false. you can get genital hsv type 1 after recieving oral sex from someone with oral herpes type 1. so you can have type 1 in both oral or genital area. that being said, to answer your question, clair, type 1 usually emits less frequent outbreaks. i have oral type 1 myself. same virus but in a different than youre concerned about. but they behave the same way. so yeah usually type 1 gets less outreaks but different factors can play into why some few may experience then more often or more painfully. it just depends

Thanks. This was my understanding too. It's all so confusing. I guess my concern is that I actually have HSV 2 which would be a whole different issue as my partner and I have been together for 20 years

ok why do you think you got it? did they have a cold sore? have you ever been tested? do u have a pic?

No cold sore but history of cold sores. Recurrent painful red bump on inner labia, looks more like a small boil than an ulcer but antibiotic treatment ineffective. Had an IGG blood test that came back negative for both HSV1 and HSV2 but they are so unreliable according to what I've read. Haven't had a sore tested, too ashamed 😦

did it cause a big bump under skin ? puss come out it?

Yes, it's a def bump. Can feel it on both sides of labia, it's firm to squeeze. Starts off red bump, fills with thick yellow puss and then dies down. But, it keeps coming back! Have had a course of amoxicillin for something else so would have thought if bacterial it would have killed it.

From what I’ve learned that does not sound like herpes. Herpes on her form hard lump inside and puss . Sounds more like a cyst or a boil or infected hair follicle. It never opens did you ever try popping? Herpes forms above the skin and causes blisters that will open with mainly clear fluid and scab . If you are concerned I suggest you get a blood test it has definitely been long enough but remember most of the population has HSV1

Sorry meant to write herpes does not form hard lump under skin

Why does it keep coming back? Also, painful and on inner labia? Don't think there's hair follicles there? Sorry! Know you are trying to help but it's the recurrence that makes me scared it's HSV 😦 Blood test negative for both HSV 1 & 2
