Genital sore and a week later cold sore on my lip?

Hi,

Looking for some advice whether I might have genital herpes and what to do.

About 5 weeks ago I noticed an inflamed red lump on the edge of my outer labia. At the time I thought it was probably an ingrown hair as I had just used hair removal cream, however it could've been there for longer and I just didnt notice it. This week (about 4 weeks after I first noticed the genital sore) I got a cold sore on my lip and I'm really worried they are related. I don't have any photos so I will describe the genital spot the best I can:

It started as an inflamed red spot quite large in size about 2-3cm. It sort of blistered/glazed over with whitish/cream fluid inside, still red and inflamed. After about 3 weeks it popped overnight as the next morning it was weeping a little. It was weeping clear fluid then a little bit of blood for about 2-3 days, I think my underwear was rubbing on it which probs didn't help. It didn't scab over, there was just a tiny hole in the middle of the red spot. It was like this for about a week and just shrunk in size. Now it is barely noticeable but a slight raised red bump is still there. I didn't experience any pain, itching or tingling at all. There was only one sore and it wasnt a cluster of sores. I did have a bit of brown discharge however this isn't entirely unusual for me as it id a side effect of the mini-pill which I take.

This week I think I have got a cold sore on my lip. It felt tingly and sore beforehand but is still very small pimple on the edge of my lip. However, I don't commonly get cold sores I've only ever had about 2 or 3 I can remember before.

It seems a bit of a coincidence to get one a week after this and I'm really worried I might have genital herpes.

Is it common to pass it on to yourself from one area to the other? Does this sound like a genital herpes infection? And how do I go about getting tested if I don't have an active sore?

Please some advice would be great I am really worried about going to the doctor and what it would mean if I did have it.

A picture is worth a thousand words but did you recently have sex? Had a new sex partner? Timelines tells a story. Herpes can spread from genitals to mouth and vice versa. If you don't have any sores present you can take a HSV1 & HSV2 IGG blood test within 3-4 months to be sure. Best of luck to you.
