GERD?!

Hi, I have been suffering with acid reflux for 2years 5months.

I am 20years old female.

I did the endoscopy and it resulted that my stomach valve does not close properly.

I am not taking anything at the moment, just gaviscon when I am feeling bad.

I suffer a lot with burning sensation but what frustrates me the most is that I am nauseous 24/7 even when I am not feeling a lot of burning sensation and I have a feeling of something stuck in throat. These 2 symptoms are always there.I am very careful of what I eat and I went to every doctor so not sure what to do next but I cannot deal with anymore nausea, I do not know how i feel without nausea cause that was years ago.

A new doctor suggested acupuncture (have an appointment next week) hope this will give me some results.!!

    Hi JamC.

Sounds like the l.e.s. (lower esphogeal sphincter)

isn't working. Avoid acidity foods, caffee, chocolate. Raise the head of your bed 5 inches. You may have a hiatal hernia. That would cause non stop reflux, and post nasal drip.

If your l.e.s. is unrepairable, check out linx surgery.

It minimally invasive, and works. Good luck ! Stu

Hi, before I did a barium swallow and it resulted that I have a mild hiatus hernia but it didnt show in the endoscopy so not sure about that.

I avoid all types of food but still get a lot of nausea and acidity.

I tried Mastic Gum and DGL licorice.  I'm not sure why this works, but it did for me.  I had lots of trouble with acid before using this for 2 months.  You take it on an empty stomach 2 times per day.  Google Mastic Gum and acid or DGL and acid reflux for more info.  Hope this helps.

Are you experiencing a lot of anxiety? You'd be surprised as to how many ailments can be caused by this.

Hi, very frustrating isn't it. Have you had a PH test? this might help work out where to go from here. Mine got that way that I have just had surgery fundoplication - just home this very day - op went well -less than 2 days out from surgery. early days yet. On pureed food and broth slowly to work up to normal diet. Most others say that have had the op that it is worth it, so fingers crossed. May be an option for you in the end if indicated. No use being sick when yu can do something about it. I am in Sydney Doctor was Prof G Falk, supposed to be best in the business in Sydney. Good luck

Thank you Dominique. Keep pursuing the doctor - go for the PH test, or seek out a doctor who specialises in this area. Whereabouts are you from? I will PM you to see if I can keep you updated with my progress - I might lose track of you on this forum. Maybe read the Terms and Conditions as to why your post might have been deleted - they are quite long - you might get over it half way through as I do with these things. I know what you mean about typing on phones I was sending a message that I wanted to be quite careful with today and I ended up mucking it up! Frustrating. Wishing you well.

I've had a ph study and the mammometry test. It showed my Les working and I was getting mild reflux. Certainly doesn't feel like mild reflux when I lie flat and I just don't believe that my Les functions properly. Not sure how accurate these tests are. Plus when I slept that night I tried to sleep in flat bed but the reflux got really bad so I went back to my raised bed. Would that have effected results???

Hello Dominique - not sure if how you slept affected the results.  I was on Motillium before the op for about a year. It helps "push" the food through your stomach, when I was tested (don't know the name of the test) before the op, it showed that my rate was slow.  Maybe that could be contributing to the the nausea feeling? Is sort of guessing isn't it - but through other peoples experiences you may find an answer. Keep pestering your Gastroenterologist so that they know how much this is affecting your life. Is your gall bladder ok? this could be a problem too?!

Yeah I've tried motilium too. I use to get terrible nausea. This has improved a lot. Not sure why. Probably diet change. I avoid dairy and eggs as I'm intolerant to them.

I had gall bladder checked about 2 1/2 yrs ago. All was fine? I'm seeing my Gastro doc in June. I've not actually had a consult with him, he's just done my endoscopy.
