Getting a Bartholin Gland removed

Posted , 3 users are following.

So I'm 21, and my 9th bartholin cyst has appeared 3 days ago, I've had most types of surgery to drain these, but I haven't had one for a year up until now, I had a consultation, and they mentioned about removing the gland the next time I have one due to how many I've had so young, but they said about the compilations, e.g, lack of lubrication and disfiguriation.

I just want to know people's experiences with having the gland removed?

Thanka

Hi, I've had similar experiences to you it seems. I got a cyst for the first time at 16, had them repetitively, for several years (just turned 23 now). Last spring, my obgyn was set to perform the gland removal when it came up again but she ended up being on vacation the next time I had it.

I ended up seeing a new obgyn, who suggested a cyst excision, rather than removing the whole gland, and I'm so glad I ultimately went with that surgery instead. My recovery was fast, everything looks completely normal, and I'm actually producing more lubrication than I did while I had the cyst, probably because it's no longer getting clogged. Most importantly I'm very confident that my cyst will not be returning ever. I would absolutely recommend asking your doctor about the procedure

Hi Cyrah, I'm just wondering is a cyst excision the same as it being drained? Like a marsupulisation? I've had that 8 pervious times before if so, if not, ,could you explain the difference?

I'm 26 years old I got them almost twice a year from 18 to 25. Last year I finally had the surgery and it was the best decision I could have made. I'm not going to sugarcoat it the recovery hurts like a bitch but I haven't had a single cyst or a sign of one since. You will have some discoloration from the incision maybe but if you feel that you need it get some personal lubricant. Honestly no woman should have to keep suffering with this condition consider the surgery if you feel like it's a good decision for you. Best of luck to you!!!
