Getting a Prescription Whilst on Holiday

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hi

I forgot about the double bank holiday and am off on holiday on Wednesday.

However I will probably need to go before the surgery can handle my repeat prescription request (I am 'owed' at least this one so prescribing per se is not the problem)

My question is will they be able to send it to a pharmacy in another English county so I can pick it up there or will I need to do something else?

There was a recent (about Oct 2014) discusion on a similar topic but only for a weekend, If this holiday is two or three days that discussion probably answers your need.

I once went to the surgery to collect a repeat prescription just before Christmas. There had been a big powerfull motorbike parked out side and the leather clad Biker was at the counter. The receptionist could not find a prescription in her box for him. She told him that if he filled in a new repeat request it would take two working days to process and with the Christmas holiday he would not get it for a week. Is it urgent she asked him and he replied yes. What's it for she asked, Viagra, he whispered. She did well to supress a smile and said that she would get a doctor to sign a predcription for him that afternoon.

He was quite young and very macho looking. My wife was visualising excuses he might be making to a lady friend over the holiday.
