Getting around with a knee scooter -- how do you do it?

Posted , 5 users are following.

I got a knee scooter on Friday, due to a broken foot, and am discovering a whole host of difficulties. For instance:

How do you put the scooter in the car and make it to the driver's seat without putting weight on the foot? I've been putting if in the driver's side backseat and then cheating and taking the couple of steps to the front seat.

If you have steps up to your house, do you bring the scooter in with you and use it at home? I've just been leaving it in the car and using my crutches once home -- but I cheat and put weight on my foot often, when using the crutches.

How do you deal with uneven ground? Avoid altogether?

Also, the turn radius is terrible -- do you ever stand up and move the scooter into a new direction? Or, do you reverse in one direction, move forward, reverse, move forward until you are turned around?

Any other tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated!!

    Hi

I have a small suv so i folded the back seats to have plenty room for scooter  , basket and crutches. I used my crutches to go to the trunk of the car to  get my scooter 🛴and vice versa .

I was jumping from one leg from the front seat to the trunk but my good ankle was hurting so I stopped it .

I totally recommend to get a knee brace

It’s called iwalk 2.0 ( go to tube for videos ) it’s very helpful for inside of the house . After awhile u get tired but I was able to be on for one hour do all my shores and rest .

Don’t cheat I did and put me behind in recovery time .

Dr said no weight .... no weight

    Good luck 🍀

I used by scooter in the house and used crutches for steps and car.  Scooters are too heavy to transport.
