Getting of mirtazapiine with the help of another drug - experiences?

I have found it impossible to get of it so far. Even the slowest taper (3% at a time) gives me unacceptable bad withdraval. I am becoming increasily sick on mirtazapine. Pains in my whole body, extreme shortness of breath, headaches, insomnia, visual disturbances, no energy, bad brain fog, dizzyness ect. Lately I started having body tremors/pounding/shaking too. If I don't get of I really believe I don't have more then a couple years left, if even that. I am totally disabled by it, and I can't take it much more.

I was thinking If I can use another drug to help support me during a taper. Anybody have experience with this?

I was already on benzo's for a whole year, together with mirtazapine. Hit tolerance and had to taper of it, which was a struggle, but doable since mirtazapine worked great for me then......so don't think thats an option for me, although >I'm not completely ruling it out, but I'm very scared I'll have a painful withdraval from the benzo because I will probably get addicted to it fast cause I was on it before.

Hi. I've been on mirtazapine for almost 4 years. It's worked great for sleep, anxiety and depression but I've noticed despite dosing at night I'm lethargic/sedated almost all the following day now, this only really subsides late on in the day. Feels like the drug has built up in my system. I've also put on 3 stone in weight mostly around my belly which is stubborn to shift even with a good diet and exercise so it seems to interfere with metabolism plus I'm getting some weird tingling nerve issues in the back of my head and going down my arms into my hands, not every day but occasionally. Mirtazapine affects so many brain receptors and the nervous system so it's not surprising. I'm thinking of coming off of it myself soon but I've been it a while so I'm sure my brain is hooked on it. For yourself I'm not sure going from one drug to another is the solution but it may be in the shorter term, eventually though you may have to come off that too before you start getting issues again.

From what I hear mirtazapine is a difficult drug to come off as like i say it effects a lot of brain receptors compared to other antidepressants. For myself i just want to sleep without taking any drug and manage anxiety myself. I could probably quite easily just stay on this drug but the longer i do the harder it'll be to come off it. For your information there's a drug similar to mirtazapine that is called mianserin. This is available in the UK if you live here. Anyway good luck.
