Getting out of bed

Posted , 5 users are following.

Hello,

I'm 3 months in, on 50mg of sertraline (second time around) and am basically struggling to get out of bed every day. I think it is a consequence of my anxiety/depression which is partly work related, and also because I am not sleeping well because of the sertraline.

Does anyone have any good practical tips on getting out of bed? I don't think I'll be able to get away with it with work for a lot longer....

Thank you,

Sarah

    hi sarah,

when do you take your sertraline, morning or evening?? i've found first thing in the morning is best for me, as for you being 3 months in and you don't feel any better, that isn't right, i didn't feel anything after 4 weeks and i spoke to my doctor and asked if i could go up to 100mg from 50. she agreed and a couple of weeks, even sooner thinking about it and i could feel the difference, i am more into work now, as before i was lethargic and just couldn't be bothered with or doing anything, seeing anyone or showing any interest in my usual hobbies/activities. since i've been on 100mg everything has changed for the better, don't get me wrong, i'm not 100% yet and still have my bad days but i think i'm always going to have those, but from what i was, a huge improvement. if i were you sarah, i'd get onto your doctor, maybe you need a bigger dosage?? especially with it being 2nd time round, i don't know it's my first time on sertraline. as for work, i was the same, hated my job and everyone i worked with and just wasn't interested, i'm back into it now, and people are saying that i seem more like myself these days so that's got to be a good thing :-) good luck and keep us all posted on how your doing won't you :-) ttfn xx

    Hi Sarah

Yes you probably need to be on a higher dose. When I went from 50mg to 100mg my anxiety and mood improved greatly but the side effects got quite bad for me with sleep being the major problem for me. I can't remember the last time I had a good night's sleep. Lack of sleep is horrible because you can't function at work properly and it helps if your employer is understanding. The doctor has prescribed me with sleeping tablets and they are working for me. I am taking them every other day as they can be addictive. I tried the natural sleeping remedies like nytol and kalms but they didn't help at all. Try listening to relaxing music before you go to bed and take deep breaths. Go for long walks. I have been doing lots of walking and I find it very calming and peaceful.

    Take care
