GF and skin

Second post, had GF for almost 6 months and my mental plus physical health seem to finally be improving smile found a lot of reassurance through this forum

Anyway, I went back to my GP because Ive had eczema and rashes and fungal skin infections since being diagnosed with GF but I never had them during the initial symptoms. The skin problems only started 3 months or so after when I first fell ill.

There is a persistent and PAINFUL area on my eyelid that stings and does not change with any moisturiser or steroid cream. Some say this could be fungal but it may be eczema/dermatitis.

I have a fungal rash on my neck that comes and goes and is terribly itchy sad its so stubborn, not ringworm though.

I have also developed discoid eczema all over my body that is fading slowly but flares up every few weeks. I did have atopic eczema as a child but it hasnt been a problem in over 10 years!

My doctor insisted that it was due to a lower immune system, told me that I had dry skin around my mouth due to herpes simplex? (It is not herpes simplex at all, he didnt take the time to look either) and PLUS my doctors is often overbooked so he was rushing to see the next patient which is understandable and I had no problem with this.

What i really want to know is if anybody else has been through anything similar after being diagnosed? If so, does anybody have any tips on how to help ease the symptoms or get rid of the issues all together! Many thanks

I had mono 2 years ago and it took me quite awhile to recover. It comes with all types of strange symptoms. I had internal heat ups that felt like the inside of my body was on fire. They were unbearable. Plus a lot of of other horrible symptoms. It is a nasty disease. I also sweated a lot and I am wondering if this could be causing any of your skin problems. The best advise I can give you is to rest, rest, rest, and take supplements to boost your immune systeym. Monolauren is a great supplement to build your immunity. Apple cider vinegar tea is also really good. This forum was of great help to me and I like to reach out to others when I can to let them know they will recover, even though it takes awhile. Hang in there. You will get through this!!

    Hey Po,

It's good to hear that things have been improving for you, really hope and pray that continues to be the case moving forward. I'm not too sure of all the links but I know the virus can affect in so many ways and the EBV virus which causes glandular fever is also the same virus that causes cold sores and things like that, so that might be having an effect in some way.

Just wanted to write to reassure you that things do continue to get better as time progresses, in another few months more progress will have been made and hopefully these nasty symptoms will settle down with God's grace and mercy.

Take care and hang in there

Yeah you're right! I guess it may have been herpes simplex then after all if its related to cold sores etc. Thanks so much again for the reassurance Craig!

Thanks Po, yes that seems like a logical explanation and really hope it can put your mind at rest, because things will get better hard as it may seem right now.

I had some spots that took much longer to heal than they usually would when I'm healthy! Not coldsores but normal spots, so I guess lowered immune system is a factor! I also had a fungal skin infection on my leg that cleared with treatment but I don't know if that's relevant to the GF. It was probably due to my exercise and sweaty clothes but developing it rather than my body fighting it off may have been to do with the GF.

Do you know what the treatment was called for the fungal infection? Many thanks
