Feb 2018 lost right kidney due to cancer my gfr 53 and creatine stays between 1.3 to 1.4 my blood pressure 130 over 70 should i be on renal diet , just turned 60

James, are you seeing a nephrologist? If not, I'd suggest that you seek s referral as soon as possible. If you alreadycsee a nephrologist this would be a great question for your nephrologist.
My nephrologist says that it's good for all of us to eat a healthy diet--rely more on chicken and fish for protei; eat fresh vegetables and fruit. A low fat diet is another key component. And, of course, watch your salt.
However, specific dietary restrictions, e.g., low potassium diet, are not prescribed unless your renal panel data indicates a need for those dietary restrictions. I have to follow s low potassium diet (2000 mg daily with a potassium binder medication). But that is due to elevated potassium levels without following this diet and taking this medication, some have to follow low phosphorous diets--I don't have that issue at this point. Some also have fluid restrictions but others do not. Do this is all totally individualized. I wouldn't make any changes until I visited with my nephrologist.

So far my doc says just watch my salt intake but I watch phosprus and potassium level just to get ahead of the game , all my blood work comes back within normal limits I'm active 6 foot tall and 189lbs thanks for your input
