Hi Glenda
In what time span? Mine went from 61 to 41 in 4yrs. At the moment for the last year it stabilised in low 40's.
I think mine has stabilised since I gave up smoking last year and started to drink more fluids. I have never been a great one for drinking fluids as never get that thirsty. Have gone from about 700ml to 1000ml which is still not enough but im stable at the moment.
Is yours a rapid decline? Any other probs?

More detail is needed. Everyone's gfr reduces gradually with age, especially in our later years. How long a period of time passed between when you were 51 until now when you are at 46. Was the it a gradual decline or such a large drop between your last two blood tests. What does your doctor say?

If your numbers remain stable then no need to worry.
I really hope my egfr is same as yours when im 66yrs!
If it keeps declining at the same rate then I would be concerned. I would definately get your Doctor to refer you to a nephrologist.
Are you in UK? If you are don't take no for an answer!
A declined of 10-15 within 12 months is a criteria for referral. Look up NICE GUIDELINES.
Do you have any other factors that would have triggered this?

My gfr dropped from 66.6 to 54 within 5 months, after I had a blood clot in my lung and went on blood thinners. I'm worried it will keep dropping. What could be the cause? I'm also 66. The more I read online, the more worried I get.
