    Hi,

Some can lower a GFR my GP always takes this into consideration before prescribing antibiotics so I am never given one that affect it,  Also you are not allowed certain ones once your GFR reaches a certain point, as there are so many types your GP should of discussed this with you, I assume they are aware of you condition?  My GFR was 9% but has increased slighty to 13% since I started dialysis.  I would just advise your nef that you have been given antibiotics and what type they are they may want to repeat the test.

Yes, I agree with Helen, GPs knowing that you have a low eGFR should ensure that any antiobiotics are not harmful to the kidneys.  In the past I have been sometimes prescribed a slightly smaller dose and a shorter duration in view of my low kidney function.
