Gilbert’s Syndrome Symptoms HELP!

Posted , 4 users are following.

I have always had stomach issues with getting adominal pain and getting sick after eating for years. I get sick 3 to 4 times a week. I also have always battled being tired all the time even though i get 9 hours a sleep a night. I recently got diagnosed with Gilberts Syndrome but the doctor says its no big deal. I was just wondering if anyone has the same symtoms and if you did what diet changes you made and or if you do anything to help. I am full time active duty military and an constantly on the go and getting sick and feeling tired has started to affect me a lot, with being out in the field and not being able to do anything about it. Any advice would be great!

i am not a medical provider so I can only express what I went through a couple of years through 2019. After my billirubin blood test had exceeded standard levels several times I was given an ultrasound exam and diagnosed with a fatty liver. My billirubin continued to be above the standard level and after another ultrasound exam, the result was fatty liver with potential cirrohosis of the liver. My PCP then referred me to a liver specialist for a fibrous scan of my liver. Fortunately, around this time I lucked out by responding to a fatty liver clinical trials test. I did not qualify for the trials test, but at least qualified for the screening process. I was given a fiber liver scan and the result, thanks to GOD Almighty, was favorable for me. I did not have fibrous liver tissue, only fatty spots. The doctor who counseled me said the only other test for me would be a biopsy of the liver and he did not recommend it. He then said I probably have Gilbert's Syndrome which some people are afflicted with, some through a heredity background? He did indicate for me to watch my diet, stay away from fatty foods, stay away from too much sugars and salts and drink lots of water. As to your stomach and abdominal pain issues, you may want to get a CT Scan with contrast exam of your abdomen if you have not had one. Check with your doctor. As to me my billirubin levels continue to be slightly above standard ranges, so my PCP keeps track of them. I feel fine and try to stay on a healthy diet. I still feel good I did not qualify for the fatty liver clinical trials test. Hope the above is of some help to you and best of success in whatever you and your doctor decide to do.

    Hello

Sorry to hear you have GS.

I've had this for 30 yrs. You're lucky to be able to get 9 hrs sleep. I only manage 4-5.

Anyway, I too get stomach pains, tiredness when I overdo it. The majority of drs will tell you GS is nothing and won't affect you. I wish some of these drs had GS themselves. Try and stay away from fatty foods, spicy foods, alcohol as these can make your GS worse. Drink plenty of non sugary fluids; mineral water can help, so too with green tea, peppermint or camomile tea. Avoid coffee and chocolates. Try and rest when you can, especially when you are starting to feel tired - this is when your GS can flare up. Mine flares up if I over do it; after a virus or medical procedure. All the best; you're not alone. 😃
