Glandular fever

Hi I'm 20 years old male, have recently been diagnosed with glandular fever, and I'm just wondering if anyone out there has had same troubles sleeping like I have, I have not slept a whole night in about 2 weeks constantly waking up covered in pools of sweat. Just want to know if anyone has had the same problem and how long they lasted for you and what you did about it.

Sweating is common in glandular fever. However, it should not affect sleeping too much unless you have other problems like stress.

Hi Jesse, it is very common to not sleep well with GF. I had same issue with sleep. Mine lasted for several months. Thank the Lord I am now sleeping again.

I didn't take anything to help with sleep. It is miserable!

Sorry to hear hear you have GF. Hope you recover soon. Please rest and don't try to just push through.

    Hi Jesse,

So sorry ot hear that you have been having trouble sleeping and having the night sweats with the glandular fever. I do believe this can be a symptom, definitely worth speaking to your doctor about.

It's frustrating because the virus wipes you out and makes you feel tired but then when you can't sleep it just makes things worse. I had a little bit of night sweats when I had it but nothing too bad, it just passed for me in time thankfully and just hoping the same will be true for you. Key thing is to try and get plenty of rest and reduce stress as much as possible, take time off if you need to.

Also taking vitamins can be very helpful, a good strong multi-vitamin per day, plus high doses of Vitamin C (1000mg to 3000mgs per day) and B complex and Co-enzyme Q10 can also help with energy levels, an immune boosting herb like oregano can help too. All these will help boost your immune system and hopefully alleviate the symptoms a bit at least.

Do see your doctor though if the night sweats continue, just hoping you feel better soon - it's a nasty virus but things do get better and you will most definitely get better from it, I truly believe that.

Take care and thinking of you - and most importantly take it easy at the moment!
