Glandular fever, any advice is welcome

I found out I've got glandular fever yesterday. I've had 9 cases of tonsilitis in 10 months and am just waiting for a pre op appointment to have my tonsils out. I was just recovering from my last episode when this happened. Had a blood test last week that showed up that I'd had glandular fever recently but then yesterday I had the worst pain in my throat which is worse today and I have blisters down my throat. I'm weak, feel sick and I'm really teary. This is my 4th week off work and I can't see me being well enough next week either. That's my full time job, I am a freelance make up artist too and I had to cancel a trial for a bride tonight. I'm supposed to be doing her wedding party make up next Saturday! I never let my brides down. I also had a miscarriage 2 and a 1/2 years ago after 7 years of trying for a baby. I then got the courage to leave my unsupportive husband last April and have been pretty run down ever since along with about 2 years of insomnia. I do sleep now but I believe this has led to my ill health. Any advice any of you have is welcomed, I'm super fed up of feeling ill and I want my life back.

You have had and are having a lousy time of it and I and many others who have gone through it sympathise.

it is an awful thing and for some people completely life changing. Get those fluids into yourself and as much rest as you possibly can. I'm 64 now and I had it when I was 14. I was off school for 8 months.

I can can only say take the pain relief. Rest as much as you possibly can. You can forget your wedding make up unless the Doc says it's mild.

It's different for everyone. I also get recurring symptoms like a number of others here. In fact that was what led me here.

im very happy to tell you more, but it may not be what you want or need right now.

just ride the storm fretting about it won't make it disappear.

drop me a line again if you wish.

    best of luck either way

      Thanks Jon,

The throat pain is a lot better today, just exhausted and feeling weak. Really bloated and struggling to eat still.

Thank you for your advice x

Get lots of rest and don't worry about anything. Your body needs to heal and regain strength. It's ok to cry out of frustration and pain. Drink some hot teas with lemon or even gargle with salt water no matter how painful. Drink water lots of it. It's a waiting game. Take some ibuprofen too. I take about three of them every 6 to eighth hours. Takes down the swelling if any in your throat. Sleep sleep sleep. You've had a lot of stress in your life and that could be the main cause. Time to let all that go and get healthy. Easier said than done I know. Get well soon I hope some of this helps.

My daughter had glandular fever and has developed PoTS now. She didn't have a pain in throat like you but she had very bad stomachache for few weeks. Couldn't eat or drink at all without being in horrendous pain. However we have been told  that she needed to rest and take high potency probiotic ( like Bio care) and vitamin c (acerola cherry). Also I have read that olive leaf extract can help with glandular fever virus so maybe you could look into it as well. Apparently you need healthy guts to fight viruses. I suggest you take some spirulina too if you can swallow it. Maybe you should see a good naturopath before they take your tonsils out. I hope you get better soon and use this  to change your life around in a positive way. Look after yourself. Best of luck.
