Glandular fever three times??

i got glandular fever when i was 19. Absolutely horrific and had terrible fatigue for months and months after. Finally made a full recovery but whenever i got ill i had bouts of post viral fatigue after.
2 years later, i got it again. Much shorter experience with it but still had horrendous fatigue.
Finally, 2 years later, i have come down with another virus which has similar exhaustion. i had flu at the beginning of year and it took me about 7 weeks to get over that! Back and forth to GP but can these recurrences happen?!

Sorry to hear you have struggled so much with illnesses. I'm on week 6 of having mono. It has been an interesting journey to say the least and I have spent probably too much time googling and reading and learning about GF. I have learned that the virus never leaves your body. Rather it inbeds itself in one of your organs and may either reek havoc there causing you to get sick or making it easier to get sick. Or it may lie dormant waiting for a chance to strike again such as when you fall physically or mentally ill. It may not always present itself in the mono type way but rather in the form of a different illness. The best thing to do is try to stay healthy through good eating and limiting your stress. From what I have also been learning through the forums is that it can reactive and it presents itself in many different ways. I hope you find relief soon and that it can lie dormant for you more than reactivating.

thanks for this! I haven't had glandular fever confirmed yet but i did get it confirmed twice before. Maybe it has come back because i was incredibly stressed and exhausted started a demanding training course! Going back to doctor tomorrow.
I was the same when i first got mono, honestly though you will be fine. i made a full recovery both times and second time was much, much shorter. Gradual walking therapy helped me regain strength. I agree about lifestyle.
Hopefully with time i wont get ill as much! Take care!
