Glans Penis Biopsy Update 2.0

This is another update to a post I made about two months ago. I had a small red spot appear on my Glansalmost a year ago. Like most guys, I ignored it until about two months ago when it grew into a blotch about the size of a thumbprint. Now it got my attention, but I was still reluctant to show it to anyone. After serching the internet, I became alarmed at the possibilities and went to my regular Dr, a non-traditional type. He didn't want to see my Penis, but in discussing it, he prescribed 2 weeks of fluconazole for a Yeast Infection and told me to "see how this works". It had no effect. Several weeks later, I found a new Dr. who looked at it and thought it might be Erythroplasia of Queyrat, and sent me to a Urologist who then wanted to do a Biopsy. I was scheduled for the Biopsy in about a month. That's when I found this site, posted a few photos and some of you helped me to have the courage to follow through with it. I had the Biopsy done almost six weeks ago. At my follow up appointment with the Urologist, he assured me it wasn't EQ, or any other form of Cancer. (Thank you God) The Biopsy indicated a Lichenoid inflammation and he referred me to a Dermotoligist as he wasn't confident in various skin conditions. He did prescribe a Steriod Cream, Clobetasol, to be applied once a day. I used it for three days and stopped. As you will see in the attached photos, it made things much worse. I think the Lichen Planus got angry and fought back!! Two weeks later the Dermatologist confirmed Lichen Planus as the situation, agreed with my decision to stop using the Clobetasol, thinking it was too agressive,  and wash daily with a mild cleaning agent, and apply a gental Healing Ointment, Aquaphor, four times a day. I went back to the Dermatologist two weeks later, today, and the healing is about 80% complete. The Dr suggested another three weeks with the Aquaphor should do the trick and the healing should be complete. If the slight discoloration in spots doesn't go away, we may treat with a far less agressive Steriod Cream. We shall see.

I am doing this because I didn't find much out there, other than this forum, to help me know what I was dealing with and what to expect. As I have seen, being part of this forum for a couple of months now, there are a lot of questions we men have about our Penis. Most of us are reluctant to discuss our Penis 'issues', and even more reluctant to show our Penis to someone else.

Thanks for being there, and I hope this is helpful...

P.S.I hope to encourage you to not let embarressment, shyness, or anthing else get in the way of your Penis health. My new Dr asked me if I would my Penis to his assistant to help her learn, a pretty 25 year old female PA. During the Biopsy there were at least four women present at one time or another. My Dermatologist is a Woman and she has now seen and held my Penis twice, this last time as an erection developed! Oh well...At first I struggled with the idea of exposing my Penis to all of these women, but my concern for my health and the health of my Penis gave me the courage and peace of mind to do it.

As I have stated before in responses to others posting here, it's just a penis, a good percentage of the worlds population has one, your Dr has likely seen every size and shape there is. They know you likely get erections so yours won't scare them either. They even know you masturbate, so don't be shy to tell them about that too if it's necessary. See you Dr. when you are concerned...It could save you a lot of worry. My Dr told me, if I had waited, mib=ne may have developed into Cancer...look up Glansectomy and Penectomy if you need more convincing...

The photos I am attaching represent a timeline for me from the original spot a year ago, just before the Biopsy, just after the Biopsy, using the Steriod Cream, and the progression of healing since I stopped using the Steriod Cream, with the last photo being today.

Ciao

I have Lichen Planus every couple of years. It shows on my lower inside arms and hands mostly, but also in more delicate areas. It looks alarming, changing from lumpy to flat over a few weeks or months, but is harmless and goes away eventually without treatment. I can go a couple of years with no further signs or symptoms, then I can get another flare-up. I checked it out with my urologist when it appeared on my penis. He wasn't alarmed and suggested watching and waiting. However, during one flare-up, my dentist noticed it in my mouth and referred me to the maxillo-facial dept at my local hospital. They did a biopsy and comfirmed Lichen Planus. No treatment - harmless.
