GLAUCOMA AND ANTI ANXIETY MEDICATION

**I have posted a general enquiry about this before but now find my self in the position of having to take anti anxiety tablets I really did not want to take them because of all the side effects but agreed I might need them for a little while. Those who have Glaucoma may or may not know that this type of medication can raise pressure in narrow angle glaucoma but is supposed to be fine for common type open angle glaucoma. I went to eye clinic yesterday to find my usual eyes pressures of 19 to 21 treated in one eye only with Azopt have risen to 25 both eyes. The Doctor was surprised thinking the Azopt has stopped working however she did think is odd that the pressure should be exactly the same in both eyes if the Azopt was not working she would expect to see a rise in the treated eye but not in untreated. She said it is not the anti anxiety medication causing it. I am not so sure. I know Steroids are a problem for some people with open angle glaucoma. I know I have been told I am a steroid responder after taking steroid inhalers a few years ago both eye pressure went up to 26 both eyes they left me on Azopt and returned in 6 weeks having stopped the inhaler and they were back to base levels. I still think this might have anything to do with the medication. Anyone been in this position . I take Buspirone. This tinme I have been changed to another eye drop Lanantoprost at night both eyes. They are preservative free as I have side effects with other eye drops although Azopt was fine on it several years. Anyone also know if any thing else can cause eye pressures to rise.
