Glaucoma eye drops Azopt and Travatan

I was diagnosed early dry AMD and early Glaucoma about 1.5 yrs  back. My eye sight was reasonable when diagnosed and it is alright even now with slight decrease. I have been using Glaucoma eye dropsTravatan once a day and Azopt twice a day for the last more than 12 months. There was no problem uptill now. These eye drops were poiducing good results of IOP and no troublesome side effects.Recently for last a few days,  I have been feeling heavy head (not exactly headache) through out the day..At my age over 80, I have been having daily walks for half an hr. My blood tests are mostly normal, Stool/ urine tests are also normal. Hb previously used to be 14 six months back but now it has come down 12.5.

Now my question to the users of above drops is that can this problem (heavy head) be due to Azopt or Travatan? I plan to leave these drop one by one for a day or so to notice it. Any other comments for use of the above drops.

Dont think its the eye drops Iqbal. What is your Blood pressure like? a fall in pressure can make you feel like this, especially at your age. Dont leave those drops out for more than a day or two.

Thanks for your response.I will continue these drops as you suggest which keep my IOP in control; fluctuating between14-18 each eye. My blood pressure remains 120/60 during summers without any medication. In winters, it gets higher upto 160/60 and thus I have to take medication at that time.

Regarding heavy head problem, I feel (though still trying) it has been due to use of Loprin/Ascort (Aspirin75mg) twice a week. Now I have stopped taking it which does give me relief.

You could be right about the Loprin. It can cause drowsiness.  However, you have been given the Loprin for a reason so you should report this unwelcome side effect to your doctor,so that maybe you can have a different drug.
