Glaucoma progression

Posted , 6 users are following.

My doctor is suggesting laser surgery although no GPA warning "Progression likely/possible" is not appearing on Visual Field Test and there are no three or more same points deteriorating in 2 or 3 consecutive test. Should I be concerned? Should I accept the surgery? I do not feel good to question his decision.

Thanks!

Laser will only drop your pressure temporarily but you will have to continue taking your drops to keep it down. Repeat laser treatments are not recommended more than 2 or 3 times.

Hi, I had laser surgery done in each eye at separate times (because eye drops were creating more problems than they were solving). My pressures were down directly after surgery but were back up to around 24 in each eye when I had my follow up appt. The procedure itself was very straightforward, I believe many have a longer drop in pressures than I had.

I had SLT laser surgery.  It did not lower my pressure at all.  Very painless quick procedure so with a try.
