I’ve had this feeling that somethings stuck in my throat for about a week now, after eating donner meat and chips. I felt something sharp go down my throat n after that started to develop a lump in my throat accompanied by a pain across my chest, been to the Drs and he checked my breathing etc doesn’t seem to think that it’s snything that is stuck as I’m eating and drinking. Just puts it down to anxiety but I’m really worried that I have something stuck still. Doesn’t want to put me through any other innessary tests as this will make my anxiety worse . I’m afraid to swollow because of the pain in my throat and chest

    In my opinion they wouldn't be unnecessary tests if you are feeling what your feeling and YOU know it doesn't feel right. I have anxiety also especially when it comes to my throat and i have suffered from reflux and i take medication for that. Same thing happened to me after eating a piece of fish and i thought I swallowed a bone but instead it was a big fish scale I pulled out with my finger. ENT did scope and didn't see anything then sent me for a barium swallow since 2 weeks later I still had the same symptoms and that came back negative. He kept telling me not to think about eating and just do it. But I tried and I still felt like there was something stuck in my throat when I ate. I went back to see him and he said he would put me to sleep and do an esophagoscopy with possible dilation. Once he put me to sleep and was looking in my throat he then realized my esophagus was very narrow and did have to dilate it after all. I am way better than I was before the procedure but I still haven't allowed myself to eat chicken or red meat of any sorts because I'm just afraid. The doctor did not know why this had happened to me because he said it usually happens with people that have severe reflux. I honestly think it has something to do with the evening of the fish incident. I'm not sure if my body just maybe it was a defense mechanism but my throat did narrow and my amxiety about it was legit. So in my case I would suggest you maybe see an ENT and again only you know how you are supposed to feel. Be persistent with the doctors if you have to.

      I’m terribly scared of having an operation. Or having tests because I’m scared of what they will find. I keep thinking to myself how can I have a fish bone stuck if I’ve only had donner meat?!? It doesn’t make sense.

      Hi Sally, yes I am able to eat and drink. But sometimes it is very painful, and I get this pain that goes across my chest under my arm pits and round my back.  I also get chest pain in the centre of my chest and across my stomach.  I have been to the G.P four times in the last four days I have been examined once and the DR that examined me told me that there was no obstruction in my throat or my chest.  but the pain in my throat and chest seems to be getting worse ive been up again today and they refuse to examine me and just put it down to severe anxiety, and any examination will make it worse because it re-enforces the anxiety if that makes sense.  I have asked about a referral for an x-ray and they wont allow it.  I phoned them yesterday to ask if I could have one done privately and they said no, that it would just make the anxiety worse.  I feel like I am going nuts and have no one to turn too for help. The dr just puts all the sensations in my throat and chest down to globus and has advised me to seek help for my anxiety.

      Hi Sally, I have severe reflux and I'm not taking any medicines for it. Could it be that my throat is narrow too?

      It MIGHT be narrow ONLY if you are having a hard time swallowing food. Otherwise it might jist be your reflux so severe and your. It taking anything for it. People have gone to the emergency room thinking they are having a heart attack when it's only severe reflux.

    I am experiencing the exact thing right now! Now I'm worried I might not get any good medical examination. I'm assuming you're in the States but I'm in Nigeria so any negligence you suffer, I get 10× more ???????... it's been 3 days and now I feel pain and I always feel like vomiting .
