Globus Sensation or something else?

At my wits end with this lump in my throat! Went to GP a few weeks ago and I told her about it. She said my gland was a little swollen due to nasal drip and prescribed a steroid pack. When that didn’t work, she prescribed antibiotics. This past week, I went to the ENT who did an exam with a camera down my throat. He didn’t find anything alarming but said I had so inflammation due to reflux and that what I’m feeling is a Globus sensation. I felt relieved that that’s all it was, but now I am back to panic mode. The feeling is only on my left side, and more right under my chin (where my gland would be). Sometimes it makes me left ear hurt. I have convinced myself I have a tumor or a blood clot and I’m so tired of thinking about it! Has anyone had the Globus sensation under their chin like that instead of further down the throat?

I do not have a physical lump, but just the sensation that there is a lump. I do get that tightening feeling though! It’s been going on for 3 weeks and I think it’s skowly making me insane. 😑

Hi Kellie
I also suffer from this and I have had all the test, CT, MRI, Endoscopy, Barrium Swallow you name it and I have it it.
All were negative, I eventually found some relief with slight change of diet and taking just one PPi per day. The PPi's do take a long time to work so don't give up too soon. I have lump in throat, under chin, pain in the ears and some days aches almost everywhere. Don't keep thinking it is a tumour as anxiety makes it worse. You will start to feel better if you can accept that there is nothing life threatening just life annoying.
All the best
Robin

HI kellies,
I have the same issue and have a hiatus hernia and suffer from GERD which ive had for ten years. Under the left hand side of my jaw and the pain goes into my ear and aches sometimes. The swallowing with the lump is the worst and I find that the more you worry the more it'll aggrevate it. If you have seen a ear nose and throat specialist I'm sure they would have seen something if it was serious. If you're not convinced then try finding a bariatric surgeon to have further investigations but I'm sure this is the same as mine.
Has the doc prescribed you any PPI'S if you are suffering from reflux ?

Yes, he prescribed Nexium, which I stated taking about 4 days ago. I haven’t noticed much change yet... 😑

I also want to add that when I was prescribed PPI's I took them with food or drink and this actually makes them ineffective. You need to take them first thing in the morning with water 30mins before eating or drinking except water. They won't be absorbed with food or tea/coffee/juice in your stomach. It's impossible.

Thanks for the info! I’ve been trying to do my best to take the meds on an empty stomach, but sometimes I forgot. 😬
