Glutened=Migraine

I was diagnosed with Celic Disease in March and have been gluten free until a few days ago when I accidentally had gluten...... a day after I started to get this Migraine that has been on and off since! Does this happen to anyone else? I’m new to this and always used to suffer from migraines but this one has been pretty bad lasting a few days! I’m thinking because I’ve been gluten free and then had it after months that it is messing me up :-(

    Hi yes I get migraines, tried to keep diaries to see if I could work out triggers but it's not been easy. Think it's related to the CD although I am careful with the diet i think my body might react to other food. If I am affected, the symptoms last 4 days. I take sumatriptan which I get on prescription. Last October i had my ear pierced, the piercing is called a daith piercing. It has helped immensely, have suffered a few times since but not like it was. I have heard that acupuncture helps as well. If you Google the coeliac centre in Sheffield, there is a professor who has been researching the affects of celiac disease on the brain.

    Keep strictly to your Gluten Free diet as dictated to you by your Dietitian. The odd accident does happen, but you should recover quickly. The lengthy Migraine symptoms may be a result of something else. I was diagnosed a Coeliac some 10 years ago and have managed to live with it, taking care by reading ingredients listed on food items, very carefully. I have not been aware of having to deal with any Migraine attacks over those 10 years.
