    hi nick,

I remember your previous post on this topic in which you were advised by your physical therapist to get shockwave treatment -

Have you made a decision yet ?

Other than that , resting and icing seems to be the treatment but I am pretty sure you have done all that already ...

so sorry to hear this -- it is so discouraging, right ?

    big warm hug

Hi Renee. Yes you are correct. Very discouraging. Yes I'm going to try Shockwave Therapy as nothing else has worked. I suppose I posted in the hope that someone may have had good results from some form of treatment.

      Its really depressing at times.

Exactly what does the doctor mean by gluteus tendinopathy? Is it that one (or more) of your three gluteal tendons is inflamed and has not gotten better in a reasonable amount of time? Do you have weakness/limp and pain? I had surgery to repair torn gluteus medius and minimus tendons 6 months ago.

Here is the GTPS article from here on Patient. https://patient.info/health/greater-trochanteric-pain-syndrome It says that "Greater trochanteric pain syndrome is usually self-limiting. That is, it usually goes away on its own in time. However, it commonly takes several weeks for the pain to ease. Symptoms can persist for months and sometimes for longer in a small proportion of cases...If the condition is severe or persistent then you may be referred to a specialist for advice regarding further treatment."

      Yes thats correct Annie.

But I've had it for 5 mths so need to take more action than rest, ice, painkillers, physio, accupunture and strengthening exercises.

Right, like the article said, you need to see a specialist in that case. I have chronic GTPS, and have given up on trying to fix those various pains, and have accepted them. I am just glad that the pain in my butt (the torn gluteal tendons) was able to be repaired!

Good luck to you with your chronic aches and pains. May you find the correct diagnoses and treatments for them from a specialist.

    Hi Nick

Before my hip replacement 15 months ago, I was diagnosed with bursitis and tendinitis. Since my op I am now suffering with damaged nerves in my foot. 12 days ago I was taking dandelion heads off when bending my hip dislocated and I finished up on the lawn. My husband rang fir the ambulance they rookie to A&E X-rayed it and it had come out of the socket and pressing on the back.  They took me to the theatre gave me a general anesthetiser and pulled it back in place.

i am home now with a leg brace on but my foot feels worse than ever.  I don't know if it has anything to do with my problems before or not.  Have you tried cortisone injections they ease the pain.

    wishing you all the best,

    Brenda

      Hi Judith

Thank you for your kind words.  I get very frustrated but I keep trying various areas.  All I want to do is get back to dancing and walking with my friends.  I am now waiting to see if there is any difference at the 2 year mark.  I have only another 8 months to go, at least that is less than the 16 months I have already suffered.

      Take care Brenda
