Go for the operation - my partner has just had surgery for a prolapsed disk having had severe siatica and cronic pain for about 2 months. The operation can be tricky as it is obviously near the siatic nerve but it was all done by laser surgery with only a 3 inch scar at the base of his spine. After 2 weeks post op he is almost pain free. So go for the op. its better than the pain you will forever have.

I have also had this for 3 months and some days think I can't take this anymore. Waiting for a spinal injection and to see a consultant tried phyio and acupuncture physio said he can't do anything else.......just woke after only 1 and a half hrs sleep took 5 ml of oramorph and 4 mg of diazepam hoping to knock myself out for a few more hrs.all I want is a decent slerp and to wake not in severe pain.....
