Good to hear. Remember we are all in the same boat, better be a big one. Some of us are running round on the top deck, some are wandering around on their frames, some are lazing in the sunshine and some are at the bar discussing these things.
Personally I'm just about to throw my iPad over the edge then go and grab a beer and chat with you guys about the ups and downs like the waves on an ocean. I hope there are snacks in that bar !!! I have calories left today

the dr you refer to gp or surgeon. GP - take with a pinch of salt! Nurse is this surgeons nurse or GPs? If Gp then ditto. When u say scar twice as big - swelling? Possibly you have what my Physio calls knots, she massages them/swelling away. Not for the faint hearted but go quicker away, if not then treat it as yet another symptom of the journey. For most, and for various reasons, it is a 12 month journey hard won every week, stop reading all the marvel comic superhero posts and just say I am me and I am taking this one step at a time and if it hurts I am going to lay down until it does not hurt and then gently start again. This hip is for 15 years min treat it well now and it will treat u well for your lifetime.

Hi Connie,
I cannot speak for those who claim to be walking with no pain at two weeks (most unlikely for most of us I a sure you). This is a very serious operation (reportedly 20 sets of muscles and connective tissues need to heal not to mention the bone itself). So this is really early days in your reccovvery. It also explains why your incision is so sore - a heck of a lot of healing going on.
This will get easier each week and the alternative for me would have been life in pain and in a wheelchair.
I am 6 months post and I feel very privileged to have had this operation and ... I will have my other done shortly.
I was lucky - lots of friends and family supported me and distracted me with visit and movie and music nights and I found this amazing community of hippies with whom to groan, vent but also seek advice and encouragement.
The scar pain fades and once you can massage it and rub it with bio oil, coconut oil or cream of your choice it helps further.
Don't despair. Let us know what you are struggling with - we might just be able to hellp.
With hugs,
L
