Going downhill again

Hi, I've been on sertraline since 29th December. I stayed on 50mg for 4 weeks and have gradually increased. I've been on 200mg now for 3 weeks and 5 days.
I had started to feel better and for about a week I really felt I'd turned a corner but unfortunately yesterday I started to feel very anxious and low again and I feel the same today.
Has anybody else had a similar experience? Should I stick it out with the higher dose or look to changing medication (I'm really reluctant to do this)
Would really appreciate any advice as I'm feeling completely deflated now after having some good days.
Thanks
Clare

Sorry you are also suffering so badly. Are you on for depression, anxiety or both?

Clare, stay on it. You have turned a new corner. Recovery comes in waves because the med hasn't completely even out in your system yet. Give it a few weeks. You will start to have more good days than bad, but you are closer than ever. Take care. Xx

Thanks GS,
It's just so frustrating as I really did feel I was getting better then wham it hits me again. Sometimes having the good days makes it worse because when you do have a low it hits you harder!
Feel like I was lulled into a false sense of security last week.
Do you definitely think I should stick with the sertraline for longer (will have been on 200mg 4 weeks Tuesday)

Yes, you should stick to it. People often mistake and think they should feel the full effects of the med in 4 or 8 weeks, when really, you should START to feel improvements within 8 weeks. It's interesting how you felt somewhat tricked with one good week. You should feel any improvements is a good sign and that eventually you will have many more good days than bad. Also, it takes the longest for this med to combat depression. It works on anxiety first, so hang in there. You are getting better, slowly but surely. Xx

Hi Clare. I've been on sertaline for around 10weeks now and on 100mg for about 4/5weeks and I felt a lot better after the first week/week an half after upping my dose so had good days for a few weeks and today I woke up feeling anxious which hasn't happened for awhile and felt anxious and low all day today. I did miss a dose yesterday but I can't seem it being that. Just feel I have gone backwards and I'm gutted as I was feeling really well not 100% but better, just hope it's a blip and feel better tomorrow xxx

It's crap isn't it! Keep trying to remind myself that I have had some good days which is hopefully a sign the medication is working. It's just so hard.

Sorry you've had a bad night.
I must admit I haven't had any weird dreams but then I hardly sleep!
