Going for Fissurectomy tomorrow 4th of February

Posted , 9 users are following.

I have done the coconut oil, the olive oil, the sitz baths and so much more. These have been measures to manage pain, but they have not been cures...

I have eaten well.... but sometimes even when the stool is as soft as water, the fissure will hurt and ruin an entire day. And so, fissurectomy it is... and upon my surgeons promise, it will be minor, no muscles will be dug into... the fissure will merely be cut afresh and sutures with some health anal skin... I will also insist that nothing else be done... in other words, he will leave the decorative skin tags there. I have no cause to start new fires where there are none.

Will keep you all posted.

Cheers!!!

A full one year later and going strong. I am completely cured. Just thought I come back to encourage others that the fissurectomy is the best bet for this problem. I now recall my sleepless nights with laughter... they are like distant memories. The burning charcoal stone in the anus has been extinguished.

Please go for the procedure. It is worth it.

Ja22m3,  I share Your sentiments completely. I also had it down almost two years ago and am now free from the misery and pain.

Good luck to those who are still suffering.

Its now been two years since my procedure. Everything is fine. I have not had further problems. I have drastically changed by eating habits. No fizzy drinks or sodas, just water and lots of ruffage in my diet. The surgery was a success, I was a student then, and I did not have caregivers, but I was able to take care of myself, maintain hygiene and cook as well as study. Its the best way to deal with this problem. The other remedies are only good if there is a chance of healing. But once the muscle is exposed, and it spasms, there isnt enough nutrition or sufficient periods between bathroom usage to heal the fissure.

    Take care all.

I had a surgery for a fissure, and removal of skin tag 2 days ago.

I have still not had my first BOWEL MOVEMENT.    I am terrified.     Am I supposed to use lidocaine still?

I would say, use stool softeners, and when you sit on the toilet, try to let it all just run out. Dont clamp as far as you are able not to. Just let it fall out. If some is left over, dont strain. Clean yourself and continue eating fruit and vegetables, and lots of water. The rest will come out the same way until the delicacy goes away. For me, it took about 5 days for my confidence to return.

As far as lidocaine goes, its best not to use it often so that you can learn how to have bowels. Also, the bowels help you identify if your healing is going well. The numbing could make hurt yourself by concealing the pain. I say lots of water, and a ruffage diet and take it easy when you go to the bathroom. You will be fine.

Thanks, do you think I should use Nifedipine after a BM, to make it heal faster?

I think it's best to eat protein heavy vegetables like beans and soya pieces. I tend to discourage the use of medication and prefer, rest, water and a good diet. It will heal within a week to 10 days if you try to eat well and sleep long hours. A lot of healing I found happens at night as you sleep, along with protein.

This is February 5th, a full 3 years since my treatment. I have lived a little dangerously due to stress, allowing myself to be dehydrated and also to slip on my diet. But the surgery I had mended me all those years ago and I am still fine. I hope this thread which has spanned three years now can help someone currently in pain to have hope that there is an end to this thing. Keep well friends.
