Gone from having a high sex drive to absolute no interest for years. HELP!

Hi I would like any advice at all on this subject, my husband and i had a good active sex life for the first few years and then it started to dwindle, but for the last 7 years we have probably made love 5 times being nothing at all the last year. Don't get me wrong he doesn't push me or moan at all but i know he misses that closeness but its like a switch has been put in a locked position for me i just don't think about it and now its playing on my mind as i don't feel normal and i'm starting to have trust issues which is my own doing. Is there anything that helps us ladies in this area because we love each other so much i want to get back some closeness. Also when we sit and cuddle i get hot flush after hot flush and he moves away as he can see im over heating. ANY HELP PLEASE!
Thank you for taking the time to read this oh and i haven't had a period for 13 months now.

Hi Karen,
Have you considered bio identical hormones? Do you have any holistic or alternative drs that do pellets? Not only estrogen and progesterone but testosterone too. Testosterone will bring back your intimacy. After periods end sex is a rough road for women. Lack of lubrication sets in, soreness and achieving climax becomes almost impossible. No wonder desire goes. My husband and I are both on pellets and have a very active sex life. As soon as my periods ended problems in that area started and I did not like it. I started seeing a holistic dr and its the best thing I did.

Hello Jude
you don't say what age you are and You also did not say if you take hrt or not . Hot flushes stop once you are on hrt and you suddenly feel younger and more normal than you have since your periods stopped . visit your doctor immediately YOUR LIFE WILL CHANGE AND YOU and YOUR HUSBAND WILL GET BACK TO YOUR OLD AND LOVING WAYS
Good luck

It is very unusual for hormone therapy to do nothing at all for you. It will either have a negative effect or a positive effect - depending on what you have been prescribed and the strength of the prescription.
A bio oestrogen is oestrodiol and is available as pellets that have to be implanted in fat on the abdomen, and patches and daily gel. Transdermal oestrogen is the safest and most effective of all oestrogen. I never had any benefit from off the shelf supplementation so no point in wasting money on those.
You must get the right strength that is going to work for you, and if you have not had a hysterectomy then you need progesterone as well. Vaginal pellets and oestradiol cream is also necessary to keep your vagina moist and supple. It helps to have a positive attitude as well, or you will set up a resistence to any support.
Having said that, I am going through a period of loss of libido as well, which I put down to my gp interfering with the consistency of my oestrogen due to her own beliefs. So I know how you are feeling. My endocrinologist has written to her telling her to treat the symptoms and not the blood results. He also says that women need lots of oestrogen and there should be no limitation on how much is prescribed to treat the symptoms. I am on pellets and my gp would not replace the prescription when I told her that symptoms have returned (as in the pellets have run out) because she said it was too soon. This means I go through a period of at least 3 months without supplementation, and my life becomes a nightmare. Then it takes a long time before the new oestrogen comes into effect.
I have now requested that I be given a new prescription before the existing pellets run out so that I am prepared to have them implanted at the end of the period that occurs for me. This is 6 months after I have had 2 x 100mg pellets implanted. 100mg lasts me only 3 months. The original pellets of 100mg used to last me 9 months out of the general period of 12 months but since the big company that used to make them stopped their manufacture, I get them from a private laboratory which doesn't have the equipment to compress them solidly so they become ineffective sooner. My body needs a lot of oestrogen, so I have to keep persisting because my life becomes unbearable without it.
I wish you good luck with it.
