Good Book on Depression

I've recently read a memoir-style book about depression that I thought other people might be interested in. It's called Emotional Parasite: a Memoir of Depression and I brought it on Amazon. Some parts are a bit shocking as she was really ill at times, but when she gets better it's really positive. I liked it because she showed how she got better and I could try out some of the things she found helpful. She has also included parts of her medical notes and it's quite interesting to see what they thought about things.

i know what you mean about finding it hard to get to sleep!! my psychiatrist prescribed me medications that have side effects of making you sleepy so that i can sleep (amitriptyline and quetiapine) and it worked for some time but now i seem to have got used to them. i've got some zopiclone for occasional use but not really a long-term answer.

it might sound weird but one thing i am doing to help me sleep is spraying perfume on my pillow just before i lay down. and then when my thoughts start to wander i try to focus my mind back on the smell. it keeps wandering and i keep focussing back to the smell. the first night it didnt help much but i tried it a few more times and it seems to help more as i am getting better at focussing my mind. it helps when my mind is racing too much to sleep.

hope you like the book. i brought it on kindle too. i tend to buy most books like that as it is so much cheaper so i didn't really notice it didn't come as a physical book as well.
