Good friend dying. Doctors stumped.sudden onset severe dementia. All imaging negative Inc. PET scan

Hello,

Any advice here or thoughts would be most welcome.

88 yr old man.

in 3 yr remission of prostate cancer.

sudden advance of PSA from 0 to 4.

Cancer had returned

only complaint was hip and low back pain.

On December 11th,awoke incoherent, unable to walk, unable to recognize family members.

Today, December 21st no real improvement.

Was inpatient at local hospital for a week. many tests, including encephalitis , many scans including a PET scan ...everything has been negative . doctors gave up and sent him home . he’s now in a nursing facility.

We are desparate! Please help!
