Good option?

I know it’s impossible to predict how a drug will affect you, but I was put on Prozac last week and I am now suffering with severe flu symptoms. I have an appt with my psych tmrw to switch meds. He said before that if Prozac didn’t work he would try Zoloft. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I am scared to try a new drug now because Prozac has messed me up so badly.

    Its mostly trial and error.

But I did a genetic test from a private lab last year. It told me what med are suppose to respond or not with my metabolism. Only had 4 out of all!

Even with the results, I tried the one that were suppose to be okay but didnt respond well.

Ive also learn from that test that I might be a slow metaboliser. This means, the drug might tends to stay longer in my system. Maybe thats why I have so much side effects ! Dont know.

From what I understand all ssris come with there share of side effects, I guess it just depends on how your body reacts to them. When i started Zoloft I had bad side effects for about 3 weeks but after that time they got much better then finally went away! Good luck

Well let’s just say I thought about stopping a few times so I guess that’s pretty bad but I can say now after 8 weeks of 50mg sertraline that I’m so glad I didn’t. My anxiety is so much better and so is my mood as far as that goes!

That’s good! Was it anything like having the flu? I am usually good about roughing it out but I can’t do flu symptoms.

For me it was nothing like the flu or being sick, my biggest side effects were heightened anxiety, sleeplessness, muscle aches, and diarrhea, those were the big ones!

That obviously doesn’t sound pleasant, but it sounds manageable. My biggest thing is nausea, cannot stand it. And of course feeling legit sick.

Yeah they were all manageable the only one that sucked real bad for me was the heightened anxiety. But never felt any flu like symptoms personally.
