Goodbye Sertraline

Posted , 3 users are following.

So, after 18 months, this is day two of no sertraline. I feel amazing. At my worst, it helped, but the list of side effects is astonishing. And now, they're gong.

Anyone who has experienced these, let me know:

• skin disorders

• head zaps

• sex a distant memory

• emotional dissonance

• so very fat

• turning into an ignorant git

I would never tel anyone not to use it, but I would say, keep the dose low and get off it asap. I've gone from 200mg daily to zero in three weeks. Remember no me to tel my GO!

Wow so happy for you . I'm now on my 14 months on 100 mg but I'm so scared to start stopping it .

I do t want to feel the way I was before it's so awful.

I know every one is different so I'm scared to do that.

Talk to your doctor, take it if you need it. I've just found that now I've stopped, I'm me again! I was suicidal and in trouble and it helped, but now I'm better I don't need to use it as maintenance.

HI there. I've never taken anxiety meds before, but I've always been a major worrier to the point where I end up thinking I'm terminally ill or the worst thing is about to happen. I make myself sick with worry. I just took my first dose ever of Sertraline last night. I was prescribed 100 mg. I woke up at 5:30 am feeling ILL! First it was tummy trouble, then my forehead got this tightening/nervous feeling followed by an intense burning feeling all over my body. It felt like I was on fire! I also had terrible nausea. Those symptoms have mostly subsided throughout the day, but now I'm left feeling totally spaced out and dizzy. I don't want to get off the couch and I feel like I've taken steps back instead forward. My understanding is that 100 mg is a high dosage to start out with, so maybe that explains my intense and scary reaction. Either way, I'm not digging the way I feel, so I'm done with Sertraline already.

When I was ill, it worked, but I should have stopped earlier. I'm not convinced you should take it for anxiety, maybe a talking treatment instead?

When you say "talking treatment," do you mean speaking with a counselor or psychiatrist?
