That unfortunately is the major lifestyle change we face as sufferers of the condition. However a deeper understanding of what and what not is tolerable may help.

The whole idea is to avoid fatty and oily foods and those foods that could irritate the stomach and esophagus. They are called triggers because they provoke the sick feeling of reflux and the pain of spasms.

Low acid rather than hyperacidity is more often the cause. A teaspoon of Apple cider vinegar in drinking water before or after meals help.

I found I could still eat certain foods prepared in new ways. I grill my meat and fish and keep out much of the oil. I also use a small dose (1ml) of baking soda in my water after a high risk meal.

That way, the distress is minimised.

Weight loss helps too as the pressure on the contents of the stomach is reduced due to space.

Most importantly, smaller meals taken more frequently helps. 6 small meals are better than 3 large or normal ones.

I hope you find these useful.

    Good luck.
