Got bit by a flea and the wound turned into a small crater thats taking a long time to heal.

Around 5 weeks ago I got bit by a couple of fleas from the cat. They turned into red itchy lumps that wouldn't stop itching. I scratched and scratched.

Eventually it turned into a scab. It was still itchy so I'd pick the scab and scratch around it. I kept picking the scab and eventually it turned into a crater in my leg.

It's taking a long time to heal. It's not infected. I keep it clean with TCP and an antibacterial cream. It's healing slowly.

I have 2 other bites that I've resisted itching. They've turned into tiny craters now. If I keep picking them it gets bigger. The hole is about 1.5cm in diameter and about 1mm deep. It was around 2cm but it's healing.

I've had bites like this in the passed and they always take a long time to heal. Other cuts and scrapes heal fine.

Anyone else had this?

Cuts and scrapes are different to bites from fleas and insects.   The bites will trigger your body to produce histamines which make you want to scratch. People vary in their reactions to bites. Some will just itch a little and hardly notice but others have swollen itchy limbs. you seem to be somewhere in the middle.

For a start,do try not to scratch and pick at the bites. You will introduce infection and  that  wont help the healing process and they will leave scars.  TCP is a bit harsh...just soap and water is good enough.

How about treating the cat and your home to try and get rid of the fleas?  Otherwise this will just go on being a problem.

You can also try taking an anti histamine tablet once a day and also buy a  device called a Zap-it which works electronically to stop the itching...you have to use it as soon as the itching starts.   It doesnt need batteries and its handy to keep in your pocket.
