Got checked but confused with specialist's opinion - Advice needed

Posted , 2 users are following.

My earlier thread indicated my extreme pain while passing bowel movement which continued for 5-6 hours after bm.

I finally got checked myself with gastroenterologist last week. Prior to checkup, I had been using GTN for the past 3 weeks and 1 teaspoon laxative (sodium picosulphate) on alternate days. With this treatment, I had zero pain and was doing great after years of suffering.

The specialist did the rectal exam by inserting his gloved finger and told me he did not find anything. he further told me to stop using laxative and gave me fiber suppliment and lactulose (stool softener).

Now I am extremely scared of stopping anything I was doing earlier. My life has been breeze with that treament.

Please advise. Should I get myself checked with another specialist?

please do not take fiber supplements! I was 9 months healed and my doctor told me to stop laxative and add fiber (sunfiber) and probiotics.. well guess what? a week of minor strains reopened my wound and it is worse than before (pain). I spent two weeks with pain and finally was prescribed GTN along with MOM . I am a 9 days pain free but I am still uncomfortable ... my rectum feels sore ( or at least that is how I feel) I am scared of Bm and depressed mostly every day. not sure how long it will take me to heal or feel like myself.

I wish you the best !!! but try to eat natural fibers because the supplements messed me up
